We stayed 2 nights this weekend, 1st and 2nd October. Our 3rd visit to this hotel. We've always commented on the friendliness of the staff and this stay was no exception. And the welcome is so genuine. The food is superb and you'd definitely not leave your table hungry. Room was spotless. The Glencarn is a credit to the town of Castleblayney. And we will be back for sure.
Our trip to Monaghan was unplanned, so we had no research done on Castleblaney. Booked the Glencairn last minute for one night. On arrival we were a bit unsure as the hotel looked a bit run down from the outside and a covid vaccination centre was running from the function room but from here on everything is positive. Very friendly girl on reception, fast check in, rooms are out dated but clean, it really would not take too much to freshen them up. The food was probably the best we had our whole week away, my husband said it was the best steak he ever had. Staff friendly and efficient and a nice atmosphere in the bar and extended area off the bar. Breakfast fantastic, good selection and freshly cooked. We went up town after and had a fantastic night, pubs had a good atmosphere and one even had live music. Just be aware most of the bars do not take card, so have some cash! We visited Big Tom's memorial and grave the next day and had a walk around the lake, definitely a must when your here. We both agreed one night was not enough and we will definitely be back. It's a part of the country that's undiscovered which is a pity as it's fantastic.…
My family were very fortunate to stop at The Glencarn Hotel when we were driving across country to Donegal. We arrived outside the set lunch times and upon enquiring whether we could get something to eat, a hotel staff member called Con went over and beyond to organise some food for us. Such hospitality to weary travellers is very welcome indeed! Thank you Con
We stopped in Castleblayney on our way to Donegal for something to eat and found Glencarn as we searched the area. We were so glad we found this place! We ate there again on the way back home. Super yummy food, generous portion, great options and lovely setup for outside eating. Didn't like at all the fact that disrespectful smokers left the restaurant and came to smoke where we were having other areas to go to,but that's what we have for the moment and can't expect consideration and respect from everyone. Anastasia and Alana served us and couldn't have been more friendly and attentive. The service really makes the place.
We had received a voucher for Christmas, it’s a 25 euro glencarn voucher.. tried to use it on the 12th June and waiting staff would either ignore it, say cash only or not come back. We understood it could not be used on the food truck but not even being accepted for drinks either. I was very disappointed and don’t even know if I’ll bother come back to actually use the voucher
