I stayed here with my wife for a friend’s wedding reception and must admit that this place blew me away, makes you feel like a member of the royal family for the day! I don’t think you can get much better than this place for...More

The hotel was in need of some TLC when we stayed there but it has since been renovated. When we stayed there the rooms were large and spacious. The staff were extremely helpful. The grounds of the hotel are fine.

Wonderful castle to stay in for a night- if you're looking for a castle to spend the night in, in Ireland. Wonderful (expensive) meal, big beautiful fireplaces, well maintained grounds. Very fun castle.

We stayed at Markree Castle as part of a wedding. What an astonishingly fabulous place! Sleeping in the guest room was something special, with a personal feel. The dining room was grand, and worthy of a castle. More than one commented we were having dinner...More

The Markree is not a hotel but a wedding and corporate venue. It was built by a general in Oliver Cromwell's invading army then fell into disrepair and was restored. Hollywood shoots romantic films here - what more do you need to know? It is...More

What is the easiest way to get from Dublin airport to Markree Castle? I do not want to rent a car as I am concerned about driving on the left side of the road, as well as a gear shift that is "backwards" from what I am used to. I am looking at either a bus (via Bus Éireann) or a train (via Iarnród Éireann). Which is the better option (I arrive in Dublin airport at 11:45 a.m.)? For the bus, do I want to start at "Dublin Airport (Arrivals Road- Stop 1)?" And what destination would I want? The bus ends at 8 different stops. Do I want the "Bus Station?" Or some other end point, like Liscarney House? What departure point would I want if I take the train? What is the startng pint closest to the Dublin airport? Dublin Connolly? Someplace else? The train stops in Sligo, MacDiarmada. Is that what I want? Help, please! :-)

I think that would be no problem, but its not really a place I would recommend to stop for tea or dinner. When we had dinner it was so noisy we tried to find another place to take our dinner and so we ate in the lounge but... More
