Popped in for lunch with friends. The Crown Hotel is an imposing building and lovely inside. Staff are excellent and the food was lovely. This is a Hall & Woodhouse establishment and as such serves fantastic badger ale. Teas and Coffees are plentiful in choice, snacks and cream teas are nice too. You won't be disappointed here so pop in...

Keep it short and simple: • Conveniently situated right in the heart of town by the market. • Secure and extensive hotel parking (free). • Pleasant outdoor seating overlooking the river meadow, if the weather is nice • Extremely pleasant, helpful and friendly staff. • This Hotel was built in 1777 and after the refurbishments retains a wonderful Georgian feel,...

Went in for Sunday lunch and sat in the bar area. The surroundings are lovely and fill you with hope for a classy dining experience but unfortunately we were a little disappointed. If sitting in the bar area you order at the bar which is fine but the staff are a little unresponsive and you are left waiting with not...

Room very clean & comfortable, breakfast o.k not much of a selection of main meals in the restaurant,we reserved a specific table for dinner only to find it occupied when we arrived,a big downside for the hotel was the pub across the road, loud music very noisey crowd on the pavement shouting and generally noisey this went on until 2.clock in the...

A lovely hotel. Big room, lots of smellies, various teas and drinks on the room. Very comfortable. Free parking. Fab breakfasts. We ate in the restaurant the first night, taking advantage of the 'two courses for £12.95' offer. The choices were limited. Drinks expensive- it is a hotel. Dog friendly, which is great, but I was charged £10 per night...

We have stayed here regularly and enjoy it every time. The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard and are very comfortable with super king size beds and gorgeous bathrooms. The bar is very atmospheric and the food is excellent. Unfortunately there is a noisy pub across the road which occasionally seems to have longer hours than one would...

We enjoyed our stay from the excellent welcome to the room and the meals. The room was beautifully and tastefully furnished and the whole hotel had the feeling that people cared. If there was a downside it was that the bar did not have a friendly feel (probably due to it being full of non-guests) and certainly the drinks prices...

A lovely old building sympathetically made into a superb traditional hotel with modern standards of comfort. Room was a good size, very comfortable and clean. Bathroom very nice with lovely deep bath. Lavish Breakfast with top quality ingredients and Almost endless choice. One of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Went to a birthday bash at this hotel yesterday and they did a lovely lunch, the food was brilliant, and we had decided to stay the night as well. Room was lovely, large, comfortable bed and very nicely decorated. Breakfast was brilliant too, and my husband is not a meat eater, so he had the veggie breakfast which apparently was...

My husband and I often frequent the bar area of The Crown, but on this occasion we had a impromptu "date night" meal in the restaurant. We booked on line using open table. I have to say the battered cod and chips was the tastiest I've ever had! We chose from the set menu at £12.95 for 2 courses, fantastic...
