Just morning coffee and tea in the lounge what a disappointment. Coffee just ok but the teas were a cup and saucer with hot water and a tea bag with a tag hanging out of the cup,____presentation NIL. This is a hotel that has had change of management and had hoped for better things, gave the impression of a cheap...

Lovely friendly staff. One of the best sea views around. Prices most reasonable. Place under new ownership and being refurbished slowly, (due to its popularity they don't want to shut.) Although the place is tired, it is very clean. Just be understanding and you won't be disappointed.

Badly in need of refurbishment. We paid extra for a sea view and we're not disappointed as we had a direct view of the sea. The restaurant/bar had been updated but the food was definitely below standard for the price and in fact two of us sent back the first course of rissotto as it was completely tasteless. We all...

We had a thoroughly good weekend at the Cliff Hotel. The food was nicely cooked and as requested, and served by really excellent staff. The staff were friendly and fun and actually made out weekend enjoyable. The hotel is under new management and it is apparent that the new owner is making every effort to upgrade the hotel, but in...

The Cliff Hotel is the largest building on the seafront in Dovercourt Harwich. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the room I had overlooked the beach and Dover court Bay. The room it's self was slightly dated but on the upside it has only recently been bought out and has new management in place. The claim to fame of...

I stayed there with a friend in s twin room last weekend. Don't let the slightly dated exterior put you off, on entering the hotel we were greeted by a friendly receptionist and went to our room. Again , the decor was slightly dated BUT it was immaculately clean. Going down to the bar and we were again greeted by...

The saving grace of this hotel is the friendly staff, but as other reviewers have pointed out, some attention to detail would make a lot of difference to this hotel. Our room was sea-facing and of a decent size with a double bed and a single fold-out bed for our son.The beds were comfortable and had nice fresh bedding, so...

My partner Viv and I travel to Harwich two or three times a year; as a former BnB proprietor I am sympathetic to the challenges owners of such businesses face. We had previously stayed here for three nights in August 2013 at £210 BnB for a double room with sea view. Unable to get a sea view this time, we...
