We were staying in Alnmouth for a week and I'm pretty sure we popped into the Sun on most nights. Great pub, lovely landlady and all staff especially the young bloke behind the bar(soz forgot his name) Very friendly, gorgeous open fire. Failed miserably at the quiz but enjoyed. Free sandwiches after a quiz an obvious bonus. Cant wait to...

I called in for dinner whilst staying in Alnmouth. The bar staff were very welcoming and friendly. I ordered gammon and egg with new potatoes. The food was obviously cooked to order, but did not take long to come, the portions are large and I couldn't manage to eat if all, but the meal was absolutely delicious and good value...

If the beer and service had been poor we would have refused to pay. We had to pre order as we were a largish group (8). Due to this thought great fresh, made to order food was on its way. Could not be further from the truth. Starter of baked camenbert was ok. Tempura prawns out a packet. Kids meals...

Called in for lunch today, already knew it was dog friendly. Owner very friendly, likes dogs too so our Jess was in good company!! I had the scampi and chips - huge portion. Scampi well cooked and crispy on the outside, tender in the middle. Chips cooked perfectly. Partner had the steak and ale pie with chips, according to him...

We stayed in the family room with our dog - and we were all made very welcome! Our bedroom was spacious with everything we needed. The owners and staff could not have been more helpful. Comfy beds. Great breakfast. Brilliant to be able to pop down to the Bar, with a roaring fir, relax and have a meal and a...

Stayed 2 nights with another couple. Saw two of their 4 rooms and both really good , lovely white linen and super king size beds. We ate here the first night and had four empty plates. Breakfast and service was top drawer. Even our dog was warmly welcomed. Highly recommended. Get the book of local walks from the shop near...

A cold Thursday afternoon in Late November. Popped in for a couple of drinks with three friends after playing golf. A friendly reception by Tom Deck and a great real fire was very welcome. Good beers and pots of tea. Excellent.

We've had a few drinks/meals in here over the last few years and have always loved the warm and cosy ambience. When we visited for drinks and a meal last year, we complained about how awful our room at the Schooner was and we were invited to take a look at their family room (Rm 4). We were blown away...
