Just back home from a superb evening at Cross Keys Hotel. Attended a 'Rat Pack' tribute dinner and dance evening at the hotel tonight with a few of my friends. We had dinner before the two x 45 minute set performance by Jim McMail who was amazing. Best night i've had in over 10 years. Hotel staff were so friendly...

The food was awful and over-priced. My fish and chips were so so oily I had to pat my fish with 3 napkins, the chicken was like a Birds eye chargrill you shove in the oven and the scampi was actually monkfish. (My dads a fish farmer and knew straight away!!) They use an alternative to Heinz tomato sauce and...

Dear Jackycaz I'm sorry that we obviously failed to meet your expectations as per your comments expressed in your review. However, aside from the fact that you were disappointed - which is by far and away the most concerning thing for us. I can assure you that the scampi we serve is by no means monkfish. Neither do we use...

My husband and I were at an organised lunch at the Cross Keys and decided to stay overnight (we came prepared on the off chance). The lunch itself was excellent and served by pleasant staff. Our room was small with no outlook as the window pane had opaque glass. I hasten to add that my husband asked for a room...

Lovely hotel in a great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food in the restaurant is lovely and very reasonably priced, with great choices. The bar area is very relaxing and homely. We have seen the same members of staff for a few years now, so this tells you that the hotel is a friendly place to work as...

Could almost write two separate reviews, the public areas and staff are excellent as is the food. The bedrooms, or certainly the one we were in ain't as good. Tired looking best description to give. To have a note stuck on the wall saying that because water pressure was low the shower was only suitable for 'light rinsing" ..........in 2017...

Stayed here while auditing a potential supplier in Kelso. It was very comfortable and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were reasonable, however a bit of neighbour noise disturbed me in the morning as I could hear their TV from 6am. Walls are obviously rather thin. Dinner was excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast was a rather limited buffet...

We visit Kelso fairly often when visiting family in the area. Cross Keys for lunch or an evening meal is very good value with the food being well presented and above all edible!! I cannot say enough about the helpful staff who work at the hotel. One of our group, in a wheelchair , who suffers from the cold was...

Stayed for one night so we could sample the Kelso night life. We arrived early but they were happy to let us have our rooms. We had a very large bed, large bathroom tea/coffee facilities, everything you need. The room was spotless no complaints at all. The staff we has dealings with were very friendly and helpful. We didn't sample...

Popped in for a quick drink on a Saturday evening- was very quiet, all in all just OK. But a huge thumbs up for great attentive service from kath, offering suggestions of places to visit etc, and was very welcoming and friendly.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Cross Keys Hotel is superbly situated in the heart of Kelso's picturesque French-style cobbled square. The present hotel was built in 1769, but in other forms a Cross Keys Hotel has occupied this site since the earliest days of Scottish coaching inns. Modernised throughout to the very highest standard, the Cross Keys today provides a warm and friendly welcome to its guests and excellent service from attentive, friendly staff. The hotel is an ideal centre for business or pleasure - situated in a peaceful corner of Scotland, yet still within easy reach of Edinburgh and Newcastle. The Cross Keys is run by the Becattelli family who provide that personal touch that makes all the difference to their guests. We take pride in welcoming and looking after our guests. ... more   less
