Visits to Ullapool are few and far between but incomplete without a trip to the Ceilidh Place. This time it was for a two-night family stay in a twin room. As ever, the international hospitality team provided the right blend of 'relaxed' and 'service'. Whether it's for a sublime hot chocolate, a warming drink or a delicious meal, the Ceilidh...

Food wasn't great in terms of breakfast. Rooms were simplistic which isn't a problem and were cosy but they also weren't too comfortable, I felt like there was a lot of moisture in the air in the rooms. The showers were good enough but there was only 4 cubicles in the secondary building as it was shared showers (which looks...

Marvellous welcome at the front desk to us and our 2 westies. Clean comfortable room, both dinner and breakfast were superb with attentive staff. The residents lounge was fabulous, although we would have preferred tea and coffee making facilities in our room. All in all a very relaxing stay in Ullapool.

Another stay and I really like this place. But it's getting shabby around the edges and could use a bit of TLC. For the prices, they could do more. Dinner was very nicely done - friendly service and well prepared food if a little expensive. Didn't stay for breakfast, went elsewhere for a better value breakfast.

We stopped here yesterday on the recommendation of a friend. We had a fantastic meal and were served by lovely waitresses. My daughter had delicious proper fish fingers, beans and chips from the children's menu. The rest of us enjoyed haddock & chips, burger and the chowder. It was very busy but the staff were v friendly. Very clean bathrooms....

Arrived straight from the ferry to a warm welcome. The room was spacious with a very comfy bed and modern bathroom. The guest lounge was beautiful and our 3-year old loved the selection of toys to play with. We ate in the restaurant and were impressed with the food. There was no children's menu but we were told the chef...

run down in many aspects, but good bed, bathroom and breakfast. Expensive. Good book selection in bedroom. Restaurant not welcoming (tatty menu for lunch, staff seemed uncaring) so went somewhere else.

Booked into the Ceilidh Place for a difference. No TVs which made a pleasant change - not even in the public areas. The Inn, hotel, whatever is different. Very relaxed pleasant staff. No defined pub area, rather a lively part of the restaurant. Room was small but comfortable and cosy. Resident lounge has large balcony with view towards harbour. A...

I used to come to the Ceilidh Place over 20 years ago with my ex-wife. At that time, it had a somewhat hippie vibe and was staffed entirely by gap year students from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. At least that's how I remember it. Now it is costy and pleasant but rather more like an ordinary pub-style restaurant....

Friendly and welcoming staff. Small but comfortable room (7). Each room has books chosen by local people. The lounge for guests overlooks the harbour and is a lovely place to sit after dinner (which was also very good). If you have time, take the Shearwater boat tour to the Summer Isles.
