There was a 25 year gap between my stays at this large hotel and I was a little surprised to see the same wallpaper in a lot of the areas and rooms. The positives are that if you get a 'taster menu' deal stay then,in fairness, this is very good value for money The cooking is not that creative but solid...

Yes the room was a good size, clean & usual complements, but the electric heating must of had a fault as we had plug in fire at full tilt on opening the door and hit with a heatwave. This was switched off asap, but due to this fault the towel rad in the bathroom was not working ! I showered...

On my 70th birthday we arrived at this hotel to be warmly greeted and given a superior room . The room was warm and comfortable, great bathroom, exquisite food and attentive service. Loved the atmosphere and we had free use of pool, gym, steam room and sauna. Great place to stay.

We have just returned from 2 nights mid-week January - what a great stay! The service throughout the hotel was unfailingly polite and helpful, our room was warm and comfortable with a great bathroom, everything you might need was in the room, and then there was the dinner each night ...... such exquisite food, perfectly prepared and presented. We arrived late the breakfast serving had ended, however we were met by pleasant friendly staff and shown to a table. They offer a buffet style breakfast, with plenty of gluten free options., all excellent, making a very relaxing break in our journey. Will call in again

Came to the metropole on a travelzoo deal for the tasting menu and should have stayed longer! Greeted by a lovely man on reception who upgraded our room for us at no extra cost. He told us about all the facilities we were able to uses, where breakfast was and booked us into the restaurant for dinner. Room was pleasant,...

we stayed here Easter weekend 2015 and liked it so much we extended our stay by another day. Lovely hotel steeped in family history with great service, great food and great location for us touring the local area. Can't believe we didn't find the time to try the spa, but the weather was just amazingly sunny so we made the...

My daughter took me for a night here - a bargain at £99 for two including a 6 course tasting menu. We spent time in the pool and spa before dinner. The pool would benefit from more subtle lighting - it was very bright which made it seem more like a public baths. The tasting menu was lovely and not...

At the time of my visit (early January) it was very quiet during the evenings, though it appeared it was well used by the locals during the day Food was very good and plentiful, and the rooms were clean and pleasant Downside was no mobile signal but does have free wi-fi My only complaint was the temperature adjustment on the...
