When we arrived we had to find a member of staff, walked into the bar and were stared at by the locals, the room was very basic and small, stains (which I hope was make up!) on the bed sheets and hairs in the shower plug hole, bed was really uncomfortable, no double glazing on the front of the building...

Family run, good food, extremely clean bathrooms (a pet hate of mine is dirty bathrooms), friendly bar atmosphere, we return here as we enjoy the food, there is a local bar where there is always a local character telling a story or two, fab location and most of all the food is home made, lovely lasagne, beef strogonoff and proper...

Its about time that the UK tourist industry woke up and smelled the coffee. In this day and age, people do not have to accept poor service, shoddy decor, uncomfortable beds and dreadful food....This hotel was an example of everything that is wrong with the UK tourist industry. We arrived at 6.30 at night, to be left waiting at reception...

Couldnt find our booking, didnt show us to room or offer to carry luggage, Receptionist was moody and unhelpful. And as with everything else in this hotel we had to go looking for staff Evening meal and breakfast were both of poor quality and the coffee had no coffee in it. The dining room was similar to a labour club function...

I was part of a group with classic cars, and we based ourselves at The Lion whilst motoring every day across Wales for miles. My room was good. Clean, large, with a comfortable bed, stunning power-shower, nice toiletries, big white towels. I asked to be at the front, overlooking the bridge and the river, even though they warned me it...

We booked our room 6 weeks prior to the date we wanted to stay. My partner rang the hotel the day before our stay to make sure that the reservation had been booked, only to be told that they had nothing for us. My partner had spoken to a young man but had not taken his name. We booked well...

Booked last-minute for business trip the same day, after concerns that there were no larger chain hotels in the area, that I was familiar with. Shouldn't have worried as The Lion Hotel was a perfect choice, lovely welcome and decorated very tastefully. My room was very clean and room service was highly efficient! Would recommend!
