Lovely old coaching Inn which has been extended. The cobble stones and entrance still have that olde worlde feel and so does the main bar. The extended areas lack that same appeal. The lunch menu has the usual selection. I had the butternut squash soup. It was very nice but came in a small soup dish with half a slice...

Nine of us visited for my Dad's 84th birthday. We had requested a table in a corner as Dad wears a hearing aid which makes noisy places difficult for him. The service was excellent and all the meals arrived together. The food was of a high standard and beautifully presented. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. It was lovely to see...

We stayed in a room within the main hotel and having stayed outside in the annex rooms before we were really disappointed. The room was small with tired and out of date decor. The carpet didn't meet the wall and the walls are paper thin, there was a dressing table with no stool and a small uncomfortable bed. The ensuite...

Stayed here as a family of 3 with a dog. Hotel is very dog friendly. Right in the centre of the high street. Great location, with stunning views. Inside is really lovely. Quirky luxury for an Inn. Really cosy, yet really large with loads of nook and crannies. Rooms have a luxury feel to them but not overdone. Bar and...

Annual lunch on the Sunday for about 50 was well organised, served promptly by very efficient staff and the dishes excellently prepared. Staying overnight the day before must have been a triumph of organisation as other large parties were also present, Well done !

We have never had a bad experience of the Bear and we have been there for light lunches and grander family get-togethers. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Prices vary according to what you want to spend and the food is always very good, so go ahead and treat yourself.

Clean, spacious, modern-looking bedrooms and bathrooms. Staff were friendly and showed us to our room. Breakfast was great, lovely full English made to order, see photo. Only downside was the hot tap in the bathroom was too hot to use after it had run for 5 seconds. Also it was quite noisy, but guess you can't guarantee who the others...
