I went with a group of friends and we had the most enjoyable time. The accommodations are rustic, but comfortable. You should be fairly outdoorsy to stay here as there are no conventional windows and doors. When I was there they had a chef who was indigenous, but had been trained in France I believe So the food was sort of Amazonas-French-Continental fusion and delicious! Interesting boat tours on the Amazon. A very bumpy ride into the village to shop for local crafts.

i would definitely consider returning to this lodge next time I visit South America.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The beautiful Orinoquia Lodge was built in 2005 and is set along the banks of the Orinoco River between the Atures and Maipures rapids. Because of its extraordinary Indigenous architectural style and its splendid position directly next to the river, this lodge is one of the most beautiful ones in Venezuela. Accommodations are set in so-called Churuatas, small Indigenous-style huts tiled with Moriche palm tree leaves, built on a huge granite rock and from natural materials that perfectly harmonize with the surroundings. Right on the banks is the main Churuata, where our restaurant is located, as well as a bar & lounge. The view over the majestic Orinoco is marvelous. Enjoy the atmosphere in our garden and listen to the sounds of the jungle. There are 12 small two-story Churuatas with double and triple rooms. 9 of them provide a view over the Orinoco. All rooms are equipped with a fan and a mosquito net. They all have private bathrooms. The lodge only provides cold water. ... more   less
