Set in the Okavango Delta this is a truly wonderful place to enjoy wilderness in Africa. The plethora of wildlife is a given. The superb quality of service is a bonus. Head chef Rosemary delivers superb food throughout the day. Our guide, Harrison, felt like a friend very quickly.

Two years ago I was a little disappointed because of the changes made in the organization of the staff and the atmosphere was not as usual. Now I have to say Xakanaxa is better than ever, back on its feet, lovely staff working excellent together. We spent a great time here and I have to say that Chemical our guide...

Staying at Camp Xakanaxa has been one of the best experiences I had in my life. Since the moment you arrive, the staff at the Camp make you feel like home and you feel as if you are part of that special place. The specific things I liked: + Even though you sleep in tents, they are extremely comfortable and...

This August, The second step out of 4 for our Botswana tour with Desert & Delta. The whole staff made it special for our anniversary! Tent was very good, good space, detached bathroom, a private veranda on the lagoon. No mosquitos at all, just a spider in the bathroom. Key issue is the staff: welcoming, smiling, they did get in...

In Botswana, we stayed at 3 safari Lodges – Savute, Xakanaxa and Xugana – owned by Desert & Delta (who have 8 lodges and are part of a larger Botswanan company Chobe Holdings – who also own Safari Air amongst other things). Booking three lodges with Desert & Delta made transit between the camps very straight forward and enable us...

A lovely waterside lodge, very green and attractive, with covered decks for eating and lounging, two very nice, refreshing swimming pools, an elevated fire ring for nighttime gathering. Tent rooms very comfortable with patio, connected full bathroom. No A/C but large fans help, excellent attentive friendly service, very good food.

Intimate game lodge in the Botswana delta. Game drives on land and boat trips through the delta. Our guide, Chemical, was knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. Facilities and food were excellent. Typical African big game animals and many different, beautiful and exotic birds. Hippos making noise right outside your tent may keep you up all night, but who could...

We arrived at Xakanaxa Camp on 30th September to a warm welcome for a two night stay. The location was excellent. Tented accommodation was non AC but very good and comfortable. On the downside the room fan was not available after 10.00pm. Xakanaxa was warmer than our previous two camps which had air conditioning. Without the fan I could not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, which is rated as being one of the finest game viewing areas in Africa, Camp Xakanaxa has one of the best locations in Botswana. Accommodation is in twelve tastefully furnished tents with twin or double beds and en-suite facilities with shower, hand basin and w.c. The tents are situated on the edge of the lagoon and from their private viewing deck, with comfortable loungers, one looks onto the reed fringes at the waters edge. The camp, with its eclectic mix of furnishings from all over Africa, has a dining room, lounge/bar area, fire deck and plunge pool all slightly raised on wooden platforms with spectacular views over the lagoon. The reception area boasts a curio shop. At night the camp looks stunning as it is lit by dozens of paraffin lamps and candles. The game drives in this sector of Moremi take one down winding tracks, through Mopane forests and across lush grasslands. The waterways are either forded by vehicles or crossed on rustic log bridges. The camp faces out over the Xakanaxa Lagoon on the Khwai River, where combined boat and mokoro (dug-out canoe) trips explore the sinuous channels and floodplains of the Delta, one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders. Birding in the area is excellent, especially in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding. To the north are the world famous heronries, which attract large numbers of breeding storks and herons. ... more   less
