Hlulhluwe-Imfolozi is a special place. My wife went there every school holiday for years. The legacy of Dr Ian Player & the conservation efforts spurred my interest in nature conservation. It was real bush & real conservation.... The reserve now is still real bush, but as for conservation... I don't know who the section rangers are, but they are probably...

We stayed 3 nights in a 2-bed chalet. The room is spacious with a nice veranda. The shower is also big. As the camp has only a fency to keep the elephants out, we could watch quite a lot of game like impala, nyala, kudu, warthog, bushbuck, vervet monkeys (very cheeky). The "resident" hyena also paid us a visit while...

Compared to Kruger camps, Mpila is run very poorly. The list of issues is lengthy, including: - Unprofessional, rude management - Ancient sunken mattresses which gave us severe back pain - Chalets squeezed together with no privacy - people peeking in your windows - Poorly designed brai that's a major fire hazard - Bathroom fixtures in poor repair - Poorly...

Absolutely awesome, large comfortable clean tents well kept in a fantastic setting. Loads to see in the game reserve.Best place to stay if you want entertaining by the vervets by day and make sure you lock everything away from them and take extra steak for the hyenas at night. Very private just a great experience.

This was my second time staying at Mpila, but my first time staying in the 5 sleeper Chalet. It was beautifully appointed with everything you need. It was neat and clean. The Chalet consists of a kitchen with an Oven and Fridge, a dining area, lounge, one bathroom, one toilet and 2 bedrooms, 1 room has 2 beds and the...

We were fortunate to get a very last minute booking at Mpila and I have to admit I was a little concerned it would not be up to scratch (there has been so much negative press around) - wow was I wrong! The staff at reception were warm and welcoming (it was 45 degrees) and never lost their happy attitude...

Absolutely awesome even in this drought. Loads to see and the tents are brilliant. Great accommodations and well kept. The tents are great, for us best place to stay. Very private except for the resident hyenas. believe one is called Hannes, and the pesky vervets.

On previous visits I have used the Chalets (or challets as some signs say) this time we used the tents and they are brilliant BUT you need to work out you are in the bush so thieving monkies will steal anything they can get their hands on and the stick by the braai is if the Hyena gets TOO close....

Mpila what can I say, probably the best game reserve experience in Africa. Looking at price we pay and what u get. self game drives, unfenced camp with Hyenas and other game passing through. And there is abundance of game. An early morning drive and late evening. Otherwise whole day sit at the camp and just relax. The piece and...

We stayed in a 5 bed chalet in Mpila camp at the beginning of September. The accommodation is relatively basic / rustic and includes a self-catering kitchen and lounge. Electricity is turned off at 10pm so remember a torch. The real attraction is the open nature with fantastic bird life and wildlife directly on your doorstep. The only animals 'excluded'...
