This was the worst $60/night of my life, and that doesn't even include the additional cost of a disgusting breakfast. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY YOUR LONELY PLANET OR BRADT GUIDE. This people are the worst. My friend and I spent two nights here during Timkat (Epiphany) this year. There were few place left in town and we were forced...

Fogera is a fun place. The rooms are in duplex tukuls in a garden. The ones way in the back overlook a lake in the background. The two very young guys who are the staff are delightful and funny. The laundry is very cheap, as are the rooms. Two nights cost us 700Birr. The breakfast is unmemorable. Skip the 'French...

This hotel COULD be great, if they had a bit of investment and maintenance, and staff with a bit of training and/or work ethic. There's a nice garden, a gorgeous view, bungalows have little verandas, and the buildings themselves could be charming if they weren't so run down and dilapidated. Unfortunately, we paid 70 USD (inflated prices for Timket) for...

We stayed here over a national holiday and the room was USD 70 per night. It certainly was not worth it, although we had no choice but to stay there due to full bookings at the other, better hotels. For this reason, I'm starting with cons: Cons: 1. The bathroom was filthy and there was poo on the toilet seat...

We were guided to this hotel as the other ones in Gonder were full. The rooms we were shown were supposed to cost US$ 60. We are talking about acceptable rooms with the typical Ethiopian plumbing in the bathrooms but nothing special (except hot water). After some bargaining and threatening to leave the price was lowered to $30 (excl. breakfast)...

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights either side of a trip to the Simien Mountains. We had 2 different bungalow rooms which were ok with hot shower though as with other places in Ethiopia the plumbing wasn't great and water was leaking whenever the sink taps were turned on. The doors to either room didn't seem particularly secure,...

We only stayed here because we had no other choice. It was late at night and no one wanted to give us a room so we went here. The staff was so rude and such thieves! They were charging us 35 dollars for a room that clearly said 20 dollars for foreigners and 200 birr for locals (there was a sign...

So we were taken to this hotel late one night by an (un)official guide instead of the Africa Hotel because we were told it had hot water which the Africa did not. As we were coming off a 13 hour bus journey from Shire, our mental faculties were not at their best. We stayed in a room in the main...

the things wrote about Fogera Hotel seem to be age old. It is obvious that alll said might have been true. But, recently these things are not existing any more since the Hotel is private owned in these year. All the things there were to be old since the hotel had a long and historical features. Recently, there are also...
