Like almost everyone who travels to Rwanda for a vacation, my husband and I set out to visit the mountain gorillas. We looked at a number of lodges and while this one was about 45 min away from the park entrance, it was worth it to us for several reasons. First, the lodge was stunning, and the customer service was first...

Imagine Africa arranged our stay at this lodge along with our gorilla tracking permits. The lodge consists of 10 stand alone cottages, we stayed in one of the 2 new deluxe ones, which was incredible. Lovely views from the terrace outside our room of the volcanoes, and also nice lake views from the main lodge. Dinners are served around one...

We traveled in June/July 2013 with Volcanoes Safaris through Uganda and Rwanda. Unfortunately, Virunga Lodge was full for the first night of our stay and we were placed at Gorilla's Nest. Glad we only stayed there one night! Incredible drive up the hill to Virunga and our private cottage. Food, as in the other three Volcanoes Safaris lodges, was delicious,...

Beautiful views although so misty often difficult to see. Lake views are better. Rooms are nice, not great. It's very humid so nothing is ever really dry including towels or laundry or your shoes for the second day of trekking. Food is very bland. The staff tries their best, but the lodge is not up to par with what you...

Spent 3 nights at the Viriunga Lodge and highly recommend both the lodge and Volcanoes Safaris. The manager David runs a tight ship and everything arrives on time for early morning gorilla trekking or evening dinner and drinks. Clothes and hiking boots magically appear back in your room cleaned of all the mud from gorilla trekking. The food is quite...

It is difficult to describe this gorgeous yet rustic "lodge"-- other than fantastic--unique--awesome--the rooms were so cool--it is an eco-lodge which we loved-- so no electrical outlets--but plenty in the lodge-- so what? Get over it-- and the lodge is gorgeous and quaint at the same time-- wonderful staff--fire its, overlooks, great service-- peace and quiet- would come back in...

We booked through Stepps travel and never would recommend or book with them again. Our in country guide was with Volcanoes safaris. I will start with the positives the lodge had beautiful views of the lakes on one side and the volcanoes on the other we only saw this once due to the thick pollution which covers the volcanoes. The...

We were sorry to hear that aspects of your stay at Virunga Lodge were not to your liking. Other guests in your group have been very positive about the lodge, the location, the staff, food and service. We take all comments very seriously so as to ensure we improve our services for future guests and would welcome the opportunity to...

This luxury boutique hotel sits on the top of a mountain overlooking 2 lakes and 5 volcanoes. Really the nicest views from a hotel you can imagine. The hotel itself (really a collection of separate units surrounding a main dining a lounging lodge) was beautifully done in a eco-modern theme. Like most people we were there for the gorilla treks,...

We just spent three nights here and loved every minute of it. Our travel agent highly recommended it because just staying here is amazing. We travel quite a bit and don't stay at high end hotels unless the location and services are something special. Coming to Rwanda for gorilla trekking is a big deal and this lodge is not just...

Without any doubt one of the most incredible resorts we have ever been. I will try to sum up why. Location:almost two hours drive from Kigali (on a beautiful panoramic road which allows you seeing the famous thousands hills of this fantastic country) perched high on a ridge with stunning views of the Virunga Volcanoes and the twin lakes Bulera...
