This place was indeed as great as I'd hope. we visited in late march this year and despite heavy, but wonderfully tropical, rain we had a magical stay. The treehsouses are sublime, huge comfy beds whcih are protected by roofs but open to the air so you get a lovely view and a lovely welcome breeze. They really look after... More

A wonderful, peaceful lodge, splendid open room harmonized in nature. In that island there is no electricity and that makes it even more fascinating. The shower was a new experience for us very particular and pleasant with a special heating system. For the toilet you need some time to get used to it but considering where the hotel is, is... More

I absolutely adored this place. It was so relaxing and to be without all mod cons was really liberating. The treehouse rooms were so comfortable and kept very clean, as were the showers and compost toilets. As a guest we felt part of something but also left very much alone too, so we could do as much or as little... More

I stayed here a while ago, but still remember it as one of the best places I have ever visited. It was so remote, but totally authentic. The rooms were amazing and the relaxation was the best part. It felt like I was in a far away land. The staff were very friendly and food was simple but nice. Every... More

You wade into knee-deep water to board your dhow for the kilometre-long crossing to Chole Island. As you near shore, the lodge’s manager (in our case, interim manager Joe) wades in to greet you. You’re escorted to your treehouse, given a brief orientation on the ingenious hot shower system and the long-drop and completely odourless toilet. You climb the stairs... More

My favorite holiday ever! The staff at the hotel were welcoming, helpful, attentive, eager and kind. Pre breakfast Coffee served in our treehouse! Fresh and delicious food at every single meal! Staff wanted to be sure that we had the best of everything and that we left loving the place as much as they do. They arranged private dining in... More

It's hard to compare Chole Mjini to any other location because where else can your family live in amazing tree houses, swim with whale sharks on consecutive days, snorkel off wooden dhows, play soccer with the local village kids and enjoy banquests each night in lamp-lit ruins. The natural beauty of Chole is amazing (great photo opportunities) and the lodge... More

We stayed for a week in August of 2012. It was really good weather as it was hot (28-32 degrees Celcius) every day but not so much that you didn't want to be active. The treehouses are spacious and provide a very unique place to stay that you will not find anywhere else. During the day there were snorkelling trips... More

In December, my family along with two others spent 5 nights at Chole Mjini Lodge. Barefoot luxury at its best! The rustic elegance and the ambience of the lodge was superb and the activities absolutely wonderful. Not to mention of course the food; fresh seafood unlimited! A couple of undoubted highlights were our experiences with whalesharks (on one of the... More

we stayed at chole for 3nights on our honeymoon after 4 nights on safari. agent recommended as we said we didn't want a beach stay, and chole doesn't have a beach as such. it is howeververy oriented towards diving, which we also don't do, and whilst they do have non diving trips as well, we did feel a bit out...
