I have travelled in and out of Tanzania for the last three years and have found that the Lutheran Uhuru Hotel is my make shift second home while living in Tanzania. After a long day in the city or working coming "home" for a delicious meal was the best part. The internet sometimes liked to test us every now and...

This is a nice hostel in Moshi. It has good security and nice grounds with lots of space to roam. The staff was friendly and more than cordial. The rooms were basic and fairly clean. The bathroom was not as clean as it should have been and the shower curtain had a fowl odor. There was also mildew in the...

The first time we stayed, they had lost our reservation and were stuck in the older rooms, bit on the dirty side. The second time, the newer rooms were much nicer Great views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Excellent grill at the restaurant, but other foods were ok...if they had them. No Pizza for you! Restaurant can be a little chaotic with...

As far as Africa is concerned, I have stayed in worse, and I have stayed in far better. Like the other reviews, the towels are tiny. We had electricity 75% of the time, water 65% of the time, and hot water 45% of the time. Forget the wireless. It will be fixed tomorrow, if you know what I mean. The...

I have stayed at Uhuru during two visits to Moshi. Last time my comfortable room had a veranda with a fabulous view of Kilimanjaro. The compound is secure, the food is very good, especially at the new "Green Bamboo Barbecue". Breakfast is a basic buffet with eggs to order. The staff is very warm and friendly. New last year was...

I moved here after 2 nights at the Kindoroko hotel in town which was in itself fine but had miniature rooms and was generally noisy. The Uhuru is about 1.5miles out of town which is a steady incline but perfectly mangeable. There have been some new rooms built within the last few years which are a very decent standard. The...

Lutheran Uhuru offers an excellent value in a relaxed and beautiful setting. It is located a few kilometers out of Moshi on a large campus that includes a restaurant, cafe, small shop, chapel, outdoor BBQ and Internet cottage. The rooms are spotless and include everything you'd need, from well-tended mosquito netting to plentiful hot water to complimentary bottled water upon...

After climbing Kilimanjaro for 7 days, we paid $50 (a lot in Moshi) for a shower, sleep and a tiny bit of relaxation....no such luck. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! A quick balanced summary of the cons and pros .... CONS 1. No hot water. After trying to turn on the switch for 2 hours, they finally agreed to let...

We stayed in the northern block of rooms on the second level and these were more than adequate - clean and comfortable with a nice balcony looking towards Kili. The grounds of this hotel complex are large yet simple, but well tended. I have to say however, that the restaurant service was beyond belief! We waited so long for our...
