It was a great stay in the Tloma Lodge. We missed nothing. Everything was excellent: the surrounding, the rooms, the staff and the food. It is a great place to relax. It was a pity that we could not stay longer there.

Melanie and I had been on safari for a week so before we had a week on Zanzibar, we had been booked in for an overnight stop at Tloma Lodge and after being driven down a bumpyish road, our first reaction when we saw Tloma Lodge was one of wonderment. It was tucked away and first impressions count--it was "Oh...

Tloma Lodge is part of the Tanganynika group, a locally owned company with a great reputation and community support. The lodge is set in a coffee plantation and farm and is very beautiful and peaceful. Lovely place to relax. The food is delicious and the staff and service very warm and attentive. I highly recommend this place and would stay...

The service and mentality is not what it should be. It is poor, standard and it lacks a bit of hospitality, friendliness feeling that would give you a feel of being welcome and doing their best to serve you on you holiday. I feel it a management problem.

For example, a staff member noticed us peering through the gift shop window well after it had been closed. After asking us to wait a moment, she went and got another staff member and opened...

Tloma is a working coffee plantation a few km away from Karatu. The side road leading up there shows that Tanzania is still a very poor country, and from what I was told the lodge does not only provide much needed jobs for the area, but also helps with donations to the local school. Once inside the grounds there is...

This was a really neat experience and would highly recommend it. You don't have these types of experiences or opportunities to do something like this very often. Take advantage of it and do something out of the box. Memories for a life time!

“We stayed in the Dove (Jiwa) and the wall between was not very soundproof - the couple in the room next to us spoke very loudly and we could hear them. I don't think they realised. Other than that everything was lovely - big spacious room, lovely beds, great shower and a big fireplace in the corner that you can have lit for USD5.00. ”
