This hotel is clean, simple, and completely adequate for a stay in Chetumal, an interesting town on the Mexico-Belize border. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, everything worked, and there was hot water as well as internet access. They have a restaurant, but we didn't eat there. The rates were reasonable, and they even had cable TV. We had no reservation, and it was no problem.

This is a small family-owned-ran place with 34 rooms that are accomodated with air condicitioner, warm water, parking lot (if needed), and a restaurant that is open during morning and afternoon (it stops serving at around 15:30). The rooms are kept clean and the linens are washed and changed daily. The great thing about this place, besides the low prices, approximately 30 usd per night, is that it is located 100 meters from the town market and the Mayan Culture Museum which is a great site to visit when in Chetumal. Another plus is that although they have signs with check in (13:00) and check out time (11:00) posted throughout the hotel, the service is rather flexible with both hours.

You can't do better for the price. Located across the street from the huge building where you can buy everything from food to clothing to jewelry. Entertainment and dinning are a short taxi ride away. There are plenty of taxis around the hotel. Staff is courteous and there's one gentleman who speaks perfect english. He is the grandson of the original owner. He moved back from Texas to help with the family business. Chetumal seaside boardwalk is beautiful and popular with tourists and locals as well. It appears the best restaurants and entertainment are around the water.

because there are so few availabilities in belize over the new years holiday, we had to find a place to stay in mexico. we decided to get as close to belize as possible and because of price, we chose the hotel azteca..exceptionally clean room and common areas..there wasnt a minute during our first day that the floors even had a chance to dry due to constant cleaning. owner brenda very friendly and gives immediate attention to any requests you might have. there is a restaurant on site with reasonable pricing. we haven't dined yet but plan to. centrally located, next to museum and market, shopping and dining. price got us to come here but the location, cleanliness and friendly service will keep us here into the new year. definately worth the money.

The hotel is located right In the middle of the busy centre of chetumal but right next to the ADO bus terminal where you can get frequent buses all over Mexico so a good location if your are using this hotel as a stop over for one night. Definetly would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing. The rooms are adequate but there are ants everywhere- even in the rooms. The hotel serves breakfast for 28pesos per person but when the food was served up, it was full of ants! It was inedible. We complained to the staff and they brought fresh food but no discount offered and still with ants running around the table. You can eat better from the vendors on the street!!

What it lacks in accomodation it makes up for in charm and hospitality, especially the charm of it's owner Bertha, who made me feel like more of a long lost friend than a guest in a hotel. In fact after two days we were friends! i stopped over for two nights on my way back to Cancún.

My room was big , basic ( no bedside locker or lights, no drawers or wardrobe) but clean and inviting, really efficient air-conditioning, towels and flannels folded into swans, television . Strangely the windows are completely screened; they let in light but you can't see out. The water is so hot in the shower you must be careful. It Is perfect place to stay in the centre of Chetumal close to everything - museum, market. 20 minutes away from Bacalar Laguna. For an overnight stop, it couldn't be better and you will remember it for the warm welcome you receive. When I was looking for somewhere to eat I looked into the bigger hotels and they felt unwelcoming compared to Real Azteca so I came back and ate in the cafe belonging to the hotel and was very happy! I gave an average for the food, not because it isn't good; it was. it just depends what you're expecting. for a small hotel the food was very good, especially breakfast and the staff and Bertha went out of their way to give me what I wanted.

It mightn't be glitzy, but it is great value for money and I hope you'll. remember it fondly as I do.

We landed at the Chetumal airport at 9:15 pm and immediately caught a taxi to this hotel, having made a reservation online prior to starting our trip. The hotel is convenient to the airport, being located jusr a few miles from the terminal in El Centro, near the Mercado Viejo (one of several municipal markets) and a bus station.

Our room was basic: two double beds, a TV, a clean bathroom. Nothing extraordinary. It's an older hotel, presently owned by a woman from the U.S. Reception staff was very welcoming and helpful, answering all of our questions. We received a voucher for free coffee, then had breakfast (at our own expense) in the hotel's restaurant on the ground floor. A good place to stay upon arrival for one night, prior to leaving for our destination on Lake Bacalar the next day.
