just looking for something cheap but it was one of the nicest and cleanest hotels we have stayed at! nice hand written card/soap/chocolate on the bed and for 30usd a night you can't beat it!! would recommend!
My room was big , basic ( no bedside locker or lights, no drawers or wardrobe) but clean and inviting, really efficient air-conditioning, towels and flannels folded into swans, television . Strangely the windows are completely screened; they let in light but you can't see out. The water is so hot in the shower you must be careful. It Is perfect place to stay in the centre of Chetumal close to everything - museum, market. 20 minutes away from Bacalar Laguna. For an overnight stop, it couldn't be better and you will remember it for the warm welcome you receive. When I was looking for somewhere to eat I looked into the bigger hotels and they felt unwelcoming compared to Real Azteca so I came back and ate in the cafe belonging to the hotel and was very happy! I gave an average for the food, not because it isn't good; it was. it just depends what you're expecting. for a small hotel the food was very good, especially breakfast and the staff and Bertha went out of their way to give me what I wanted.
It mightn't be glitzy, but it is great value for money and I hope you'll. remember it fondly as I do.
Our room was basic: two double beds, a TV, a clean bathroom. Nothing extraordinary. It's an older hotel, presently owned by a woman from the U.S. Reception staff was very welcoming and helpful, answering all of our questions. We received a voucher for free coffee, then had breakfast (at our own expense) in the hotel's restaurant on the ground floor. A good place to stay upon arrival for one night, prior to leaving for our destination on Lake Bacalar the next day.
"The interior rooms may be quieter from road and hall traffic. Ask for a renovated room."Read full review
