The hotel is located outside the center, on the site of a large shopping center. However, we chose it because it is about the best hotel near the ADO bus station (about a 10 minute walk). We had room 223, a good room and a good night's sleep because the hotel is far from the (busy) road. The breakfast, which was more than sufficient, was included in the price. Given the relatively limited price, the hotel scores well in terms of price-quality ratio.
A good hotel for a night, for example on your way to Belize. The very helpful employee at reception called a taxi for us, for 50 pesos you can get a taxi to the so-called 'Nuevo mercado' where the buses to Belize leave. We expected many travelers there, but there were only 6 people on the bus (at the end of January).
The downside is that there are hardly any restaurants near the hotel, only some kind of food stalls. After some searching we ended up at Positano, a nice Italian restaurant.

This place is a great find. Crisp, new, minimalist - with virtually everything you need including a rather impressive complimentary breakfast starting at 6 am. Clean, attractive rooms. Rooms are small but not uncomfortably so - there ae bedside stables, a desk, wall-tv, no closet but adequate/stylish hanging space above the suitcase tables. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Good internet. Excellent water pressure in the shower. AC is quiet and efficient. Don't let let the bargain price scare you ........ this is an excellent-quality property! No onsite restaurant, but the mall is right across the parking lot and there is a huge food court there (no alcohol served there). If you want adult beverages and amazing local food then grab a taxi and go to one of the taquerias nearby ....... fabulous food, abundant proportions and bargain prices. I would definitely stay here again, and suggest that you give it a try.

How this hotel got 4-stars is beyond me. The property is radically overpriced. The lobby is stark and opens directly onto a collection of tables and chairs that turn out to be the breakfast area. The rooms are not much better. Everything is the bare minimum, form tiny pillows, plastic furniture - the list goes on. A dorm room at a budget university in Africa is more welcoming.

Saturday night we decided to to leave for Chetumal. i checked bookings as i normally do, and found that there were several hotels with vacancies. i didn't book right away, i figured we would decide when we reach. upon arriving at a lil after midnight, we decided we would go to City Express, That was definitely a first time experience. i went inside to get a room and was immediately told, "we don't have any rooms here," literally with a disgusted look on the guys face. i said are you sure because i just checked a few hrs ago. he repeated the same thing. so, i stepped out, drove over to the McDonald's parking, accessed their wifi, and booked a room via bookings.com, i returned with my confirmation and the guys refused to honor it. he kept on saying that he doesn't see my reservation in the system. bare in mind that i had received the confirmation email from both bookings and City express. at that point i realized it can be 1 of 3 things, my nationality, my race, or the way i look(i do walk around like am broke, which i am)
well Mel walked in to see what's the hold up, and the guy kept on saying the same nonsense. she started speaking to him in spanish and thats when he said he has 1 single occupancy room; according to bookings and expedia, they had several types of rooms available. now, how would he know that it was 4 of us, he just didn't wanna book me a room right? Mel said lets go somewhere else, and we ended up staying at Los Cocos. i would never recommend city express chetumal to anyone.

Very bad service from the reservation, it turned out that they did not load my reservation in the system and when I arrived at midnight they told me that there were no rooms available, they did not want to follow up with me and they gave me a phone number for the manager, who never wanted to answer and he only sent me whats apologizing that there was a failure in the air conditioners and that is why they canceled my reservation without any prior notice, later they sent me to another hotel and it turned out to be more expensive than this one, surprise. Weeks before, I stayed at the same hotel and I had problems with my bills because they made my bill wrong and I spent several days reminding them, I was even sad. While there I realized that the reception staff lacks a lot of training in the management of their system and customer service. A co-worker had his invoices canceled and they did not want to support him for proper follow-up, in the end they ended up charging my co-worker and not only that, a similar case also happened to several people. My personal recommendation is that this hotel is not 100% reliable if you go for work and be very careful with your bills.

Not much going on here. They offer the bare necessities in every sense of the word. Surprised they gave us a full roll of toilet paper. Sparse rooms and public areas - but at least it was quiet. It's okay for one night border runs or stopovers, but we will stay in Bacakar next time.

I have stayed at this hotel basically since they open a couple of years ago. They rated this hotel 2&1/2 stars and it does not deserve more. There is no maintenance done to this hotel since they open it. Towel torn up, faucet on the sink loose. They need to put their act together and fix it.
Price is very low, it is quite clean and you have free breakfast in the morning.

First time in this hotel.it is very basic, but clean and tidy. Right next door to the Chetumal Mall. Breakfast was excellent value for money, pool and fitness center. Pool needed a proper scrubbing around the edges.

I stayed there from 8/01/2014 to 8/02/2014 and they would not accept the 30% discount they offered by email. Their web page would not complete the reservation and the manager could not apply the discount, although a relative stayed there as well and he/she was able to apply the discount.

We were only passing through Chetumal to Belize and needed to stay somewhere in between our trips. City Express does what it says - Hotel is new, nice, comfortable and modern with parking on site. Simple breakfast and we hit the road again.
