Royalton Bavaro Review
Our stay at the Royalton Bavaro was an amazing experience, thanks to the hard work of the many staff there. We arrived as guests of TravelSmart members and upgraded to Diamond Club, which made the experience so much more enjoyable. On Day 1 we were welcomed by Juan, our butler, and Esther, our Member Services representative, who made sure that our stay was as smooth as possible. Because we were Diamond Club members, our dinner reservations were all made in advance by our team, we had an upgraded room in a central location, and we had access to the Diamond Club lounge with its own snacks and alcoholic drinks/espresso bar. We also had access to the DC Bar & Grill right beside the beach.

This resort is beautiful. The beach was cleaned on a daily basis, the waters were crystal clear blue, and there were always spaces for us to make ourselves comfortable. The buildings are well tended to, and our room was cleaned three times a day.

The food was great - every night we had incredible service from all team members, who make it their mission to give us the best experience possible. There are various options for eating at the Royalton, which meant we never got tired of the cuisine. Every bartender was welcoming, especially Darlin and Emmanuel, who remembered us and not only made our drinks well, but quickly too! We are so thankful to them for making our experience so fun and enjoyable.

Every single one of the workers at this resort really go out of their way to answer any questions you may have, and make this vacation as pleasant as possible. I give the Royalton Bavaro my highest recommendations, and thank the entire team, especially Juan, Esther, Darlin, and Emmanuel.

I am writing on my second last night here at the Royalton Bavaro..... I will give you the good first!

Good:
The food is really good and every restaurant has a great selection for something to eat, even the very picky!

The rooms as long as you upgrad to a 1 bedroom suite is very spacious with 2 private bathrooms not like a regular room where the washroom is out in the open. The beds are very comfortable but the pillows are really thin. Rooms are also very clean.

The beach was also very clean and you could always find lots of chairs everyday, same with the pool, ample space!

Most of the employees speak english which is spectacular!

All of the entertainment staff are the best, they do a wonderful job all day and night! The shows at night are really amazing and fun to watch!

Bad:

Service depending on where and what is awful, at the bottom of every hotel room block is a desk where 2 people from the hotel sit from about 8am to 9pm and you can ask them for anything the problem none of them deliver like they say! I asked 3 times for a blanket and once for milk for my son and never got them. I had to ask the lady that cleans our room and she was the only one after 2 days that delivered! Most of the restaurants staff are very friendly, but the beach staff complain if you don’t tip them for bringing you a drink.

The walk from your rooms to the restaurants are very far and not well lit at night. In the morning they clean the walk way from the beach to the restaurants and it is incredibly dangerous, I almost wiped out a few times before deciding to walk barefoot every morning.

Breakfast, your better off ordering room service they never serve you coffee or water. The buffet is always crowded and they run out of cups and can never replace them fast enough so when you get to a table only silverware is there with a napkin. By the time you finish eating they bring you your drinks.

Also in order to get your bar fridge filled you have to call down your self to tell them what you need!

None of the pools are heated, so if you want to go in it’s an ice bath. Even the hot tubs are not heated so beware!

The Ugly:

Unless your a diamond club member DO NOT look for alcohol in your room other then beer, they don’t put bottles in your dispenser unless your a member, even if you ask!

Never ever go to there welcome meeting, they rope you in for a buffet breakfast hand out your welcome package and then keep you there for another 3 hours to try and convince you to by a time share. Please do yourself a favour and run!

Otherwise amazing place to stay especially if you have children, there is a lot to do for all ages and probably one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Punta Cana

Dear Amanda, We would like to express our gratitude for choosing us in your last holidays and for the valuable time that you took to let us know your experiences concerning your stay. We sincerely appreciate your comments. They truly give us the opportunity to adjust and improve our services as well as the hotel facilities. We strive to deliver a great vacation to all of our guests and we appreciate very much your lovely feedback about our facilities, services, and staff. As per your comment of the Travel Smart Vacation Club agents, rest assured we are working along travel smart management to make sure the staff members are performing properly. If some of their collaborators did not assist you as they should, we sincerely apologize and we assure you that the hotel does not condone this kind of conduct. We maintain the same position with the vendors you mentioned, as they should not make our guests feel uncomfortable. As per our restaurants, they have a tendency to fill up early. Our restaurant managers and their teams work hard to provide a constant and efficient quality service to all our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to our beautiful property and assure you that you will enjoy even superior services and facilities on your next visit. Sincerely, Daniel de Santiago General Manager Royalton Bavaro Resort & Spa

I recently travelled to the Royalton Bavaro with my husband and 7 month old son and we had a wonderful time. The resort is quite large, but never feels crowded. The pools never felt too full and we always found beach loungers in the shade. We were able to have dinner at each of the restaurants and rarely waited very long (the only exception being one night at the steakhouse with a 90 minute wait- more about that later). The food was very good, and had excellent variety. The alcohol was nothing exceptional and the wine was not great unless you purchased upgraded bottles, but we were not there for the drinking so it didn’t bother us. There was a very full entertainment program, which was nice. The resort was very clean, and the staff was friendly. If there was ever any problem, the staff were quick to correct it. One of our sterilizer bags was accidentally ripped by a waiter, and the resort was quickly able to provide us with an electric sterilizer for our room. Everything we requested for the baby was provided quickly and easily, which made for a much easier trip with an infant. This was a huge plus for us.

Staff at this resort work for their tips and there is a noticeable difference in service for those who provide them. Staff will remember. Drinks are much faster at the bar for those who tip. A table might be told there is no more of a particular drink available that is clearly being served to the table next to them. The hostesses may be able to find a table at dinner much faster when there is a tip provided. This happens at all resorts and is something to keep in mind when reading review on the service.

The only negative about this resort was the pressure to attend a timeshare presentation. There is a “concierge” in each building whose sole job is to try to have you attend a timeshare breakfast. They were extremely persistent, to the point that we altered how we would get to our room to try to avoid them. We had a swim out room and I was approached while in the pool off our room if I would be willing to go to a breakfast. I was followed the whole way to my room by a very aggressive concierge who said he didn’t care about the company and just wanted the commission to feed his family. We were approached a minimum of twice a day for the whole trip, and that was honestly exhausting. Apart from that, staff were friendly and the resort was beautiful.

We just returned from a week at the Royalton Bavaro in Punta Cana with two adults and 3 kids, 10, 12 and 13. We upgraded to the Diamond Club and had a great week!

We booked the 2 bedroom Presidential Suite and there was tons of room for everyone, very neat and clean, fridge was always stocked and great view on the balcony of the ocean.

I found the communication with our Butler difficult and had to ask several times for basic things and specific reservations at the restaurants we wanted to try, but it certainly didn’t make or break the trip.

We took advantage of the included access to Grand Memories Waterpark just down the road and the kids liked it. We then just walked back to the resort along the beach, probably a 15 minute slow walk.

The beaches are absolutely beautiful and the kids loved bouncing in the waves of the ocean every day! Usually in the afternoon we hit the pool areas, whether in the Diamond club one or the infinity pool. There weren’t chairs available in the Diamond club unless you went out early in the morning and put your towels down but the other pools always had chairs available.

The food was good and there was tons of selection, the buffet was great as well as the a la Cartes. Our favourites were the RIO, the Japanese and Grazia. The ones we were disappointed in were the Oceanside as the seafood was tasteless and the steakhouse was super slow service and we had to ask multiple times for water, condiments and other basic items.

I went to the gym 4 mornings to work out and it was the best gym I’ve ever been to on a trip. It was clean, spacious and had an awesome boot camp class. Alexis was the instructor that morning and I was done after that class! It was hard but really really good!

The spa was really nice too as we took advantage of our included hydrotherapy session with the Diamond upgrade. We would’ve done it every day if the kids hadn’t have been there.

The kids LOVED the foam party on Friday in the big pool, they were all hyped up!
The nightly entertainment was good, typical of big resorts but fine. Lots of bars to choose from and no one got sick thank goodness.

I did read a lot about the HFM going around before we went so I brought 2 containers of Lysol wipes and as soon as we got our room my husband and I went to work with them cleaning all the door handles, light switches, remotes, surfaces etc, Just got peace of mind.

Overall, I would recommend this resort as it was full of things to for families, lots to keep the kids entertained and very well maintained and cared for.

The resort is absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous rooms with a bath/jacuzzi in the middle of the room. The only issue I had was with some of the waiters attitude and also struggling a lot with gluten intolerance. I found the restaurants would ask your allergy but would not really see it through when considering your order. I told the staff at Zen that I have a gluten allergy and then get rice drowned in soy sauce which ruined my day. Any gluten sufferers I would recommend sticking to just plain meats. Ice and fruit is okay to eat and drink from in the resort but not tap water. The staff need more information on allergies.

Dear Cathstadden, First of all, we would like to thank you for sharing your impressions with us about your stay at Royalton Bávaro Resort & Spa. I am saddened to read your recent review and the fact that we have failed to meet your expectations during your recent vacation with us. Excellence in service is one of our strengths and we work with pride to keep it this way. We select and train our workers so that they can efficiently attend each of our appreciated guests. We are disappointed to know that during your stay you did not perceive this. The behavior you highlight is far from the service our staff always strives to provide and we will work towards eliminating this issue. Regarding your comment about food allergies, we conducted an investigation, as this is an extremely serious issue and can have fatal consequences. We have standardized procedures and take close care of each guest with food allergies. Allergy cards are provided to our guests upon check-in and our Food and Beverage, as well as our executive chefs, are informed to be able to track guests with these conditions. We can guarantee you that your review was read with the highest interest and that the involved departments were informed to take immediate corrective measures. If you visit us again, we will make sure that your experience will be significantly improved and we hope that you will give us the opportunity to change your perception of us. We’ve recently stayed at both the Royalton Riviera Cancun and Royalton Bavaro and the Riviera Cancun is hands down a far better resort.

Royalton Bavaro Pro’s:
Easy check in and out, nice beach, great nightly activities for the kids, and water slide area was well maintained, no seagulls anywhere, buffet restaurants food area was very clean

Royalton Bavaro Cons:
Room: The room was horribly dirty (bugs on the carpets by the couches, disturbing stains on the bathroom walls and curtains). Our mini fridge only got restocked once and we had to constantly call for bottles of water. They never restocked the room snacks and the in room liquor dispenser never had a bottle in it. We had to call for soap and facecloths because they were never replenished. The concierge asked how our room was and we told them. They said they would take care of the problems. They never called us until our last day. You could hear every cough and sneeze from the rooms beside you and all the footsteps from the rooms above you.

Service: The only time you didn’t have to get your own drink was at the beach, the girl working the desk at the kids club was horribly rude, the lunch buffet restaurant is too small and there was always a wait to get in.

Other: Not enough washrooms (always a wait to get into the washroom even for the men!), not enough towel pickup stations or garbage cans, the supper buffet served the exact same thing every night, the kids game area was basically useless because all the balls, pucks, paddles etc were missing, people were smoking everywhere

I could go on and on with the cons but I’ll stop and say the Royalton Bavaro is not a “Luxury” resort nor is it a 5 star. If you want a great family vacation with great food, service and a clean hotel head to the Royalton Riviera Cancun.

Dear FloYeo, We find your comment about your room cleanness unexpected, as our staff works hard every day to keep all rooms clean and suitable for the use of our guests. We sincerely regret the cleaning of your room was not up to standard and we have spoken to the housekeeping manager about this in order to prevent future cases like these. Also, we are pleased to mention that our rooms and common areas are subject to strict supervision procedures to provide our guests with a service that meets the established international hygiene and quality standards. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have had with the minibar reposition in your room. As a new Green Initiative, the Mini Bar is replenished upon request by dialing the operator. There is signage indicating this in the Mini Bar. This initiative is oriented towards reducing single-use plastics. However, we would like to apologize as we failed to inform you correctly. We sincerely regret your perception of the attitude of our staff from the Kids Club. Our staff is trained to provide our guests with an efficient and cordial service. On the other hand, concerning missing utilities this is the first comment we receive However, your comment is very important to us and we will be addressing these issues with the Team. We have noticed your comment regarding your food experience. We would like to mention that our Executive Chef works hard to make an extensive and varied menu of luxury dishes for our buffet restaurant and he usually accomplishes this goal for all our guests. We can guarantee you that your review was read with the highest interest and that the involved departments were informed to take immediate corrective measures. If you visit us again, we will make sure that your experience will be significantly improved and we hope that you will give us the opportunity to change your perception of us. My husband and I stayed her for a week in mid November. The hotel is very well maintained and the pool area and beach are beautiful. The food was varied and we really enjoyed the culinary experience which was $110 per couple which was totally worth every single penny and it was so interesting. Staff are friendly and helpful at all times and the massage on the beach is worth it as all you hear while having your treatment is the sea waves. The rooms are very nice and there are plenty of things to do in and around the hotel. Entertainment is fine but depending on the location of your room it can be a little noisy from the entertainment at the hotel next door. I would recommend this hotel and would return. We felt totally recharged when we returned home to London.

My husband and I traveled to the Ryalton Bavaro the week of January 8, 2020. We have stayed at the Royalton Punta Cana and the Chic by Royalton on previous trips. We had a fabulous time and really enjoyed this resort. We stayed in the luxury junior suite and we were not diamond club. There was no need to upgrade at this resort. The basic room is gorgeous. It had a stand up shower with 2 rainfall shower heads as well as a jacuzzi tub in the room. The room was spacious and clean.
We had no problems getting a table at any of the restaurants and we were able to get chairs at the pool and the beach at any time of the day. This resort has a lot of staff and we were able to get drinks at the bar easily as well. The service on the beach was a bit hit and miss, but we didn't mind. The bar was close enough to go grab our own drinks.
During this trip we did the day trip to Saona island and went to Coco Bongo's and we had a great time at both places.
The resort is only about 15 minutes from Downtown and 25 minutes from Punta Cana Airport.
We walked along the beach and thought this beach was a lot nicer than some on the other resorts.
There are a lot of kids at this resort, but we have a lot of kids at home so we are very used to it.
I would recommend this resort.

The reception was OK with room allocation dealt with speedily ($200 taken from debit card as a deposit just in case) . The room was superb and in a good location relative to the main amenities.

The beach was clean, the sky was blue and good for an early morning walk.

Each block has a 'go to guy' who took a great deal of interest in us initially and insisted we attend a Diamond Club membership meet and greet. We agreed reluctantly and were subjected to a very long and intimidating session in order to convince us to join the 'Diamond Club' - we declined - it did seem ludicrous to pay an enormous fee to get the service we had already paid for!!!!

Food service was adequate but nothing special, same food every day with little change and lengthy queues at both the buffet and restaurants with preferential treatment to 'Diamond Club' members.

The entertainment team were not very good and rather erratic compared with others we have encountered, also the main theatre was very badly designed and difficult for the team to perform and entertain adequately, the only place we found for a good time was the 'Sports Bar' for a game of pool and the occasional late evening Karaoke helped by downing a few Mamajuana.

We had not been to a Royalton Hotel before and will certainly not be going to another.

In conclusion - leave it to the 'EXTRA SPECIAL' Diamond Club Members as they are willing they pay extra for the service we have recieved and expected in the past from other hotel chains.

This is really nice , big, mostly clean resort with nice staff that offers lots of fun for family with kids. The buffet was always great , with lots of food/meats/seafood/fish/lobster/fish/fruits selection.
The only thing I couldn’t enjoy is a good desert , so many choices , but nothing tasted good to me including the breads. The coffee shop is great, kids can enjoy some donuts , ice cream (I didnt like but kids always enjoyed) , hot chocolate and cookies ..they make you a coffee with Different liqueurs- try it ! there is a really great BBQ place for lunch near the pools. They have a pizza place , we so many pineapples and ham there is no Hawaiian pizza , we were disappointed. We tried the steak house, service was very slow, steak and onion soup was good , cream brûlée - disaster!
We rented the cabanas for 50 US a day ( negotiate !) , we needed them since my daughter got sick with a flu on the second day and beach was almost always very windy , wavy with occasional short rain. You can Ask for a free cabana if you listen to the timeshare presentation. The flow rider is a blast! I didn’t find the lazy river very clean. The kids club is nice bonus. Wifi coverage is everywhere. Rooms are beautiful and beds are extremely comfy.
I was very dissatisfied with a room service, I ordered some tea and lemon to the room waited for 1 hour and no one came. Had to carry my sick girl to reception, no one even apologized after my complain... another concern I had that ping pong table didn’t have balls , one of the staff send me to the pool area to check if they have any ( what a service!!) , after complaint in the front desk nothing changed either, the resort was out of balls for a while .... that’s not what you expect from 4-5 stars resort. The shows were great , my favourite was the Latin band night.
When we were leaving Sunwing emailed about 3 hr flight delay , front desk and Sunwing rep couldn’t confirm it and since we didn’t want to go on the bus with the sick kid it was very disappointing to arrive by taxi 4 hours earlier, since we didn’t want to take a chance to miss the flight and no one was able to confirm the accurate info. Also Sunwing is selling discounted attractions during the flight, which are not really discounted, just be aware . And last tip , you can find cheap taxi for $2,0 just search the web.

Overall lovely resort , but next year we will try something else .
