This is the most fraudulent, illegal company I have ever dealt with. Please don't ruin your own vacation by staying here! 1. We booked ourselves for the Paradisus Palma Real a year ago... 7 days before our arrival date we were notified that we'd been "upgraded" to the Grand Cana. Of course the cancellation period is 7 days..... 1a. This is a cheaper hotel so clearly not an upgrade 1b. We were downgraded to the lowest level of alcohol so we couldn't even get Tito's vodka($20/bottle). 1b2. They decided to "allow" us to have Tito's and Don Julio at 1 bar on the entire property as a concession. However, this bar has no Tito's or Don Julio! We even saw the bartender in the bathroom filling up nicer bottles of alcohol with cheap crap!!!! Fraud, Illegality, you name it, they're doing it here! We also had another bartender at the same bar try to sneak fake Don Julio into my friends drink. They then dissappered with the empty bottle and came back with just enough for a drink or two... I'm sure this was their bathroom trick we saw! 1c. Did I mention the bartender called my sister a lier for mentioning the room name that management asked us to use when ordering this "special" alcohol! Turns out we understand Spanish and heard everything! 2. All bars have downgraded their alcohol brands. Surprising since there was the big scare of people dying from the cheap alcohol. 2a. We paid more money than other people on property, including some who are able to get any alcohol they desire, yet we get the dregs. 3. 2 days in and we're received zero room services, no making beds, restock coffee items etc, new towels, actually giving us pillows for our pullout for the kids. 4. the mini bar actually consists of 4 mini coors light, 6 sodas and 4 waters. Zero liquor. Zero juices. Is this, as they claim "luxury" or just a Motel 6!! 6. Food here is terrible! We walked out of 4 different dinner reservations due to inedible food. 7. Just for good measure they threw 2 extra bottles of wine on our bill of over $100 ea. Complete fraud! 8. Let's also not forget that the entire property is covered in super slick tile. Add water and someone in your party is almost guaranteed to take a fall... Just as I did. Bottom line is, the management here is so fraudulent and has such poor customer service that our vacation was ruined. We will be filing fraudulent claims with our credit card company and lawyers. The DR is a great country and we've had great experiences elsewhere.... just not at Paradisus!

Nearly brand-new resort, close to Punta Cana airport. The beautiful professional resort pictures actually DO reflect reality in this case. Not on the beach but the 5-minute golf cart shuttle ride is quite efficient with lot of cabanas and chairs on the beach to use. A nice restaurant is there for food and drinks too. Right now, lots of seaweed on the beaches though (not within resort's control). Very spacious rooms. Very clean. A/C works great. Comfortable bed. Nice pools. FAST and reliable internet all over the resort. Buffet restaurant is average but dinners in the specialty restaurants are quite good. Be sure to make dinner reservations on the resort (Melia) app ASAP--download app when you check in. No laundry facilities, that I could find. You are assigned a concierge who will take care of all your needs. They use WhatsApp to communicate with you. Concierge will even escort you to get your COVID testing a couple of days prior to departure. Although you have to pay all-inclusive fees, please also tip the wait staff and concierge. The people in DR are not well off and a little "thank you" goes a long way. One drawback to the resort is that it seems to be the farthest from most excursion starting points. Pickup will stop at many resorts, which means you will be first on and last off on the way back. Budget at least 2 hours each way, as not to miss any reservations. Because of the multitude of stops on my excursions, I got to see many other resorts in this part of DR. You will appreciate how much NICER this resort is!!! Overll, very nice, relaxing stay. Would definitely stay here again next time to DR.

My family has stayed at Paradisus a total of 4 times now. In the past we stayed at Palma Real, so we wanted to try the new Grand Cana. Both resorts are located on the same property. The Palma Real resort has a lot more character in terms of atmosphere. The Grand Cana has a sleek design and a more modernistic feel. Overall, it was a great vacation. We had 2 swim out rooms, one for me and my husband and one for our 2 adult boys, 18 & 21. Absolutely loved the rooms. I wanted to write this review so I could post the menus for the various restaurants on the resort because I could not find them anywhere ahead of our trip. Just remember, you don't go to the Dominican Republic for the food; you go for the beach and the pool! Also, if you are a wine drinker, the only included wine is either a white, red or rose from Argentina called "Astica." The white is a Sauvignon Blanc and the red is a Cabernet. Here is a list of restaurants that are located at the Grand Cana. You will need to get reservations through your concierge. They all use WhatsApp to communicate with you. There is a Melia App, but don't use it to make reservations, use your concierge for everything. Mangu-located beside the main pool, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You need reservations for dinner. Unfortunately, I could not find the dinner menu photo to post. Amor de Mar - only for members of their vacation club called "The Clrcle" Agua Marina - beach restaurant. You need to take the buggy to get here from Grand Cana. The restaurant used to be called Gabi Beach, but is now just for those staying at Grand Cana. Mina - is the steak house Lemon Fish - is a ceviche restaurant. We didn't eat here because I don't eat raw fish even if someone claims "the acid cooks it"! Kao - multi restaurants inside one. There's teppanyaki, robatayaki and sushi available. You cannot order across the restaurants, so you need to make separate reservations on different nights if you want to try all 3. You have access to these restaurants as well which are located at the Palma Real resort. Again, have your concierge make the reservations. Olio - an Italian restaurant. The appetizer was served via a mini buffet. All buffets required you to wear a mask and disposable gloves due to Covid (June 2021). Tokimeku - same as Kao, multiple Asian restaurant in one local. Vento - an Italian restaurant Sal - a steak house Palazzo - we could only go here for dinner even though it is open for lunch and breakfast. It is only for "reserve guests", but your concierge can get you in for dinner. The main buffet at the Grand Cana was way better than the main buffet at Palma Real. There are daily activities that have limited capacity like soap making, candle making, painting, wine tasting... These are fun and you end up with a homemade souvenir. My only complaint is that the instructors spoke very little English which was a change from when we stayed at the Palma Real resort. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would return. Don't get talked into sitting through the vacation club presentation unless you are truly interested!

My family and I have come here many times now. And I am writing this review to say Enmanuel Mercedes, a waiter at the resort, is the best, kindest, most accommodating waiter I have ever had at any restaurant in any part of the world. He should be an example for all the staff and lead a training course in my opinion, because if everyone was like him we would all be better off. Overall the resort is great and the staff is super friendly. :) 👍 But still if you can try and get Enmanuel to be your server you will not regret it, he is the best!

The following employee of Paradisus Grand Cana in the DR. continually went above and beyond to make me and my family feel welcomed and serviced the entire time we were at the resort. Aney Cordero was a welcoming face in the morning, quick to assist myself and my family along with all the patrons around us. Always working, watching, and sending out service in a friendly and delightful way he was a pleasure to see both at dinner service or breakfast. I know a wise employee will always value an employee that does all that is necessary for the company and it's reputation. With employees like Aney Cordero this company and resort will continue to flourish.
