Overall I was very impressed by the beauty of the Melia Caribe resort (palm trees in every direction, beautiful beach, and our room/outdoor sitting area was quite peaceful and relaxing). Linarda who is the supervisor at the Olives Signature Bar (the main lobby bar) was so joyful and helpful - always getting us double espressos first thing in the morning. She is a gem. Give her a raise! Moises was our waiter two days in a row at the Casa Nostra Italian Restaurant and he was amazing, full of energy, so happy to serve. Give him a raise! I offer 3 small recommendations that would take this from a 4/5 to a 5/5. 1. There is only one red wine included, which was okay but not awesome. A bit of variety on the red wine would be appreciated (include a Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec etc.). 2. There was only one beer on tap, which was not great and very light (include an amber and a stout). 3. I would often go to the lobby early in the morning, looking for a coffee and a quiet spot, but there was loud muzak playing at all hours. It would be nice to turn off the the music or turn it low until the place gets busy. Overall, I would recommend this as a great place for a vacation. The staff is incredible and so helpful.

This was our second visit to the Melia resort in Punta Cana, and if this is even possible it exceeded our first visit last year! For starters, the staff remembered us and greeted warmly. Our attending concierge Humberto was so attentive, welcoming and professional that we felt like we were visiting a family member rather than a large resort. I visited several times the Riviera Restaurant, especially after we met Francisco Diaz (the King of the Riviera Restaurant). He is an outstanding person and the best waiter. He made special my wedding anniversary!! Thanks Francisco! My family and I were very impressed with attention even to move from one place to another with in the resort was easy specially after we met Luis. He treaded us like a VIP. Transportation was excellent. Our Ning by were also special! We were every night at the main lobby for the shows and party. We met Maria, a sweet person; she always was pending that we did not runout of stings 🍻🥂 Another heartwarming gesture was the chocolate strawberries, the champagne, and the run. We will be back! Thank you, The Level!!!

We stayed at another Melia last year and had an exceptional experience. This was not the case with this resort, which I would not recommend. We traveled as a family of 6 -- two children ages 7 and 9, four adults. The hotel was very poorly operated. The front desk staff took 30 minutes to check us in. They did not offer information we needed for our stay upon arrival (such as the fact that the resort was so large that two trains run on the property), and sent us off into the dark to walk around for 15 minutes trying to find our room. We rented two rooms. The key to one room did not work, and we were told to walk back to the front desk to sort it out. During our stay our keys stopped working three other times. There was a recurring shortage of towels. When we went to get towels we were told we could only have three for our group of 6. Other days none were available at all. Trying to make the case for how many towels you need each day is just ridiculous. The tour sellers were aggressive -- trying to sell while we (tried to) pick up towels and laid by the pool. We got asked multiple times each day if we'd like to buy a tour. The hotel advertises multiple restaurants, but the morning after we arrived no reservations were available for the next four days. People stood in line for 30 minutes to try to get reservations. The staff responsible for the bookings were grumpy and just genuinely did not seem to give a care. Meanwhile, as we sat down to breakfast a server approached to ask if we'd like to pay for the $60/person restaurant NOT included in our stay. So much selling of upgrades at every turn. When we were leaving the front desk decided we had not paid our bill in full and that we owed an additional $240. There was no explanation other than a "clerical error." A good front desk staff -- that is informed, cares about customer service and efficient -- would be a game-changer. The grounds are beautiful and the design of the lobby is beautiful. It's a shame that the operations fall so short of reasonable expectations.

The weather was great. The grounds were well kept and the resort infrastructure was well maintained. The food was ok, but not as flavourful as we would have liked. The buffet table food didn’t seem very hot, as if it was cooked at a central facility and transported to the restaurants. We did have an issue where the maid service didn’t get to our room until the evening, which was inconvenient when trying to shower and change for dinner. The suite was well laid out, and having a full size fridge and coffee maker was a bonus. One highlite of the trip as a Level guest was a concierge. During our stay we had Hector Jose as a concierge. He checked in with us every morning and was very knowledgeable about the resort. He was able to get us our reservations that we wanted and when we had a problem with the maid service, Hector solved our problems. Hector is very friendly and helpful. He made our stay much more enjoyable knowing that if we needed anything we could reach out and he would respond.

Resort was beautiful!!! Felt safe to walk around a lone. Service was great, everyone was friendly. Maiky, our concierge, went above and beyond. He would check on us at least a couple of times a day and would make at leas one in person contact with us to make sure we need everything we needed. The only issue I had was finding someone or some place to make change for large American dollar bills. Maiky would do it whenever he could but we did not always want to bother him, and that was our choice.

We traveled as a family of 5 and stayed in a family beachside room (non-level). This is my 5th time visiting Punta Cana and first time to this resort. We checked in at 4:30pm and did not get our room until 6:30. Check in is supposed to be 3pm. There were 4 big check in desks and only 2 staff working. Many people waiting and upset. Our room was OK. It was probably nice at one point but I found it to be run down and a bit dirty. The shower was great, but there wasnt a single hook or towel bar to hang wet towels or bathing suits. Thos resulted in us needing new towels every day. The air con also leaked and after a few days, I started having an allergic reaction to the air, which likely means there was mold. We ordered room service our first day, which was $10 for the delivery. This was disappointing compared with other resorts where it was free. That being said, the food ordered was good. The room was really well situated to the beach, the pool and the kids areas. All within a 2-5 minute walk. We really appreciated this point. It was always easy to find a beach chair or a pool chair, which is rare in my experience! We really loved the kids splash area. It has 3 different sized pools with water games and slides. We also ate lunch there several days, which was great. Only downside is they play the same 5 songs on repeat! I’m not exaggerating. I still have one of them stuck in my head! Our kids went to Kids Club one afternoon and loved it. They are 6, 7 and 9. The staff here seemed really sweet and trustworthy. They did a plaster craft and then went to the beach for a sand castle building competition. The beach is huge, lots of room to play. The water is cloudy and it’s not the nicest stretch of water in my experience compared to other hotels. For some reason it’s not turquoise like other parts of Bavaro beach. Upside is the waves are calm and it’s safe to swim. Vendors try to sell to you but we didn’t find it to be annoying. Some of the vendors were really nice and many took a simple no and moved on. Food- the food quality is OK. We could usually find something good to eat. The Merkado buffet in the morning is really nice because you can eat breakfast overlooking the ocean. Lunch we did at the Splash pad and Merkado. Decent. Dinner was an absolute nightmare. Since all the restaurants were booked every night except for one night, we had to eat at the main buffet most nights. I have never in my life seen anything like this. There is a massive lineup out the door, and when people go in they don’t bother to get a table or to order a drink. Everyone just rushes to make a massive lineup for food. It’s like the hunger games and the most uncivilized dinner experience I've ever had at a resort. Despite the fact that there are different stations (pizza, pasta, salad, dessert, meat, etc), people insist on making a singular massive line up for all food instead of lining up at the station they want. Part if the issue is the layout of the buffet, which is a straight line. I found the entire dinner buffet experience awful and chaotic. We finally got to eat at a restaurant one night (Alma). The food was really good but the AC was cranked to an unpleasant temperature and we were all freezing. The staff was so nice they even turned off the AC and gave my son a jacket! But it was just so unpleasantly cold. We had tried to book all our restaurants on the first day but everything was already booked. Really disappointing. We found the staff to be friendly and nice. Everyone was working hard and long hours. We made sure to tip well. Having our room’s mini bar re stocked was nearly impossible. I had to phone 2-3 times every day to ask them to bring us water. Only one day out of 7 did they actually come without me having to call. We never had enough water for overnight. I found that stressful. The hotel design and landscaping is really beautiful. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the majestic gardens, peacocks and other wildlife. Really gorgeous. The trains that go around are cute but they are a little dangerous for the pedestrians. It was easy enough to just walk everywhere. Nothing is that far. My overall impression is that this hotel is operating over capacity, and that if you don’t have a Level upgrade, you’ll have a sub par experience. Ive stayed at many hotels with a tiered system but this is the first time I felt second class. I think the staff are doing the best with the resources they have and that management has been greedy in booking more guests than what the hotel can truly accommodate. Finally, if you are traveling with kids, keep a very close eye on them in the pools. We witnessed an extremely tragic event at the main pool. A little girl, maybe 9 years old drowned. The entire scene was awful. There was no leadership or emergency protocol that we could see. The only lifeguard on the scene was trying desperately to do CPR but we aren’t sure he was performing it properly. We are shocked that the hotel did nothing to address the incident. Anyone who witnessed this was likely traumatized. When we asked some of the staff we knew about whether she was ok, they told us she died but that they have been instructed to tell guests that she survived. To me this is a dark stain that will forever mark our experience at this hotel. When I trued to post about it in the Facebook group for this hotel, the admin deleted my post. Cover ups. Despite some of the strong points, I personally wouldn’t go back to this hotel.

The lobby was amazing, the grounds meticulous, the staff friendly and accommodating, the food was excellent, the a la carte restaurants offered a romantic atmosphere and ambiance. Our concierge Joan (pronounced Yohan) was phenomenal and even connected with Jasiel a golf cart driver to take us around. I highly recommend this resort to couples or families.

My husband and I decided on the Level Experience through Sunwing vacations. Great value for your money. This is hard to advertise because we would like them all to our selves by we had Jose Acosta and Eddie Solutions as our concierge. They were amazing. So helpful and informative. Always providing us with itineraries for each days activities. Excellent service all around by these 2. We were lucky to get them. Our next trip will be to the Melia and we will ask for them.

The hotel was beautiful, we stayed in The Level which was definitely worth it especially for the extra pool. Our concierge Nathanael was fantastic and helped organise our restaurant bookings for our group of 7, he was always there to help answer any questions we had and checked on us everyday.

This resort is a disaster. Everything looks dirty, there is no variety of food and there are never any reservations for restaurants. you will end up eating at the buffet every day, the same food. Go prepared to drink your coffee and drinks in cardboard cups. The bartenders and waiters were very nice, but the quality of the drinks were not good.
