Madresal is a ecotourism center run by an ejido (communal landholders) on a spit of land between a saltwater estuary and the Pacific. The ejidatarios are anxious to make the place work, so they go out of their way to accomodate visitors: ferrying guests through channels in the mangrove swamps and accross the estuary, pointing out different varieties of plants...

El Madresal was a highlight of our family Easter Break vacation in Chiapas. Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing, our visit was an experience full of sun, stars, and waves. The cabañas are basic, but comfortable. Afternoons were spent relaxing in hammocks in front of the cabaña, and one night we had a camp fire on the beach under the full moon....

A nice place to have a relaxing weekend at the beach, if you don't mind the absence of almost everything that comes to mind when you think of a hotel. Still, it's worth if you realize what are you getting into and adjust your tolerance to a proper level. Say goodbye to your digital lifestyle. You get there after crossing...

Amazing beach experience with plenty of nature, nice people and services. A wonderful place to relax and refill energy. The place is well managed by a small collective called Centro Ecoturistico El Madresal. Sand and sea outspreading to the infinite.

We really enjoyed spending 3 days at El Madre Sal. We had several cooks and waiters waiting on us four. Excellent service everyone was super friendly. The only thing I was very disappointed was the dollar exchange rate it should be more fair. We would have spend a lot more money and stayed additional nights if we had a better...
