This place is amazing! We stayed at a lake view superior bungalow and everything was perfect. A lot of space, comfortable bed, hot shower with shower curtain, very nice terrace with comfortable chairs, good food at really fair prices, scooter rental and laundry service available. A bit outside of town but has everything you need right there. They picked us...

Amazing place with many positives. JUST REMEMBER to pay an extra 5000 to the boat from Parapat to the 15000 Rupiah (0.3 € 0.25 US $) and ask them to drop you off there. 1) It's location of the bungalow gives it a mosquito free and a delightful breeze so nights are perfect in temperature. 2) The staff and owner...

I stayed on Tuk Tuk Timbul Bungalows from 3 - 4 December 2016. I took ferry from Tiga Raja Port and they dropped me right to the hotel, so I don't need to use local transportation from Tomok to the hotel. I was fascinated by the lake view and the atmosphere surroundings, I could spent few hours just for enjoying...

I have been coming to Lake Toba since 1975 and have seen many changes take place on Samosir island, the most noticeable being the building of roads and the cars and motorbikes that now use them. It is still not so busy except on weekends and on holidays but at Tuk Tuk Timbal, where I have been staying since 1990,...

Basic but lovely place beside lake. Each bungalow have veranda with a lake view. Helpful owners and staff. They also have eating area overlooking the lake. Food was good and I had beat Gado Gado sauce ever - peanut sauce with lemon grass and chillies. Tip for those traveling from Medan, it takes 5-6hr to reach parapat and check ferry...

Lovely setting looking out over the lake. Basic but comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much. Slow pace of life and a friendly atmosphere. Food was very good and always made to feel welcome. Located a bit out the way from Tuk-Tuk but still in walking distance. Also found some good bars and resturants on our walks to Tuk-Tuk

This place really is great value for money and a beautiful place right next to the lake. The rooms are clean and very reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and more than willing to help you with advice and travel bookings. Nanda was prompt with replying to our emails as usual and was a beautiful host once again. Lake Toba...

Great place, great location and all. Great place to stay. Been going to tuk tuk for since 1998 but i think this is my favourite place. The owners are a batak man and dutch woman. Family atmosphere and the bungalows are well situated. Its out of tuk tuk a way but the boats from prapat will get you there if...

TTT is a great homestay to relax and enjoy fresh authentic food. Located directly at the lake with bungalows in different styles. The restaurant serves all dishes home made and with excellent taste. Very friendly staff, always supportive. I rent a scooter, brand new, tank full! Definitely a place to stay on Samosir Island.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tuk-Tuk Timbul, which means "Arising Peninsula", is located at the shore line of Lake Toba between the well known peninsula "Tuk Tuk Siadong" and the village of Ambarita. We, the family Siallagan, started to build up this place in the seventies as it was still just a bare rock in the lake making it suitable for nice bungalows. Over the years it has become what it is now - a little paradise for those who like it quiet, a little bit hidden and familial rather than busy and fancy. Generally all of our bungalows are basic, suitable for guests that are looking for non-expensive accommodation rather than for pricy international standard hotels. This is being reflected in our room rates. Our luxury is our great natural spot, hidden and quiet, where you won't find disturbing boat traffic or even road noises. ... more   less

“Email or call them ahead of time, as they seem to be busy with people who stay there for weeks-months on end! They only had #10 available when we went, so we took it and weren't disappointed! I don't think there's a bad bungalow on their grounds. If you have preferences, just be sure to ask ahead.”
