We stayed at the Tower Hotel for one night and would recommend it unreservedly if what you are looking for is a bit of rustic authenticity. The white-washed, roughly plastered walls of the room we stayed in are that way because they are built with...More
The description mentionned a balcony, toiletries, a view but there was none of that. The place was dirty, the bathroom door totally broken, the toilets more than disgusting, no soap or anything, no toilet paper, the sheets had been slep in. We had to ask...More

Hi Caroline. We did exactly that - a relatively close by trek in the morning and then went to Petra. No trouble at all. We did have our own car but you could make the trip easily in about 2 hours. We stopped along the way to look at the castle Shobak which was about 10 minutes drive from the main road to Petra. I wouldn't bother going into the castle if you've seen the Karak Castle. I don't know the price I'm afraid as we had our own hire car (which all went really well) hope that helps.
