First impression after arrival not bad at all. Past the reception – hallways and rooms weren’t vacuumed possibly ever. Room heating not functional. One of the light fixtures not working. The bathroom with the usual mold decoration around the bathtub. Dining room – clean, food indifferent fare, about par for Jordan. Be aware – a small glass of red wine... More

The Oscar Hotel, situated in the hills of modern Petra, is visually stunning with wonderful views of the region and impressive-looking furniture and decorations. Further, the on-sight restaurant boasts a fabulous makluba (a yummy Jordanian dish of upside-down chicken, eggplant, potatoes, cashews, and rice pilaf with yogurt). The dinner buffet is excellent as well. But that's where the happiness ends.... More

I'm really trying to remember anything special about this place and ...I find it hard. ;) Perhaps the name and the interior of the reception, that's all. The rooms were dark, the bathroom - no comment and so was the food... (no cornflakes for breakfast?..., no juice for dinner...? That's a joke). The only good thing was the party which...we... More

Tour operator took us to this resturant for lunch. They indicated that it will cost 8.0 Jordanian Dinar PP for Open Buffet. As we arrived the open Buffet was maily salads, pickles . Hot meals dishes were all empty with no food left. Found "Human Hair" in the Salad! All serving Spoons and Forks were sinking into the big plates which... More

We arrived to an ornate and beautiful reception area, marred by cigarette smoke. We had an ok dinner, with wonderful local wine. Our night was hard. The controls for the heating/air conditioning are down at the reception desk - you can't turn it off or on without a remote from the desk. The beds are low to the floor- reason... More

We locked our extra money in the room safe and when we returned from spending all day in Petra there was a lot of money missing. They have an override code that is used and it does not reset the code you put in so you think nothing has happened. Make sure if you stay here not to leave anything... More

We arrived here tired and hungry after a long drive from the King Hussein Bridge and we're looking forward to a good rest and a nice dinner. The hotel didn't disappoint! Our rooms were nicely done, furnishings a bit outdated but everything was clean and in order. We were so happy to see a kettle in the room (all our... More

I had a nightmare with a group who refused to stay at the Oscar because of revies they all read on their iphones. Trip Advisor is very open to abuse and I feel this might have happened here, where somone with a grudge against the hotel posted negative comments. Anyway, I stayed there 2 nights, my room was very comfortable,... More

They say it was renovated lately but according to what we are used to it was very dirty, the food was not eatable and made us sick and the workeres were not nice, we were so sorry it was like that, we would love to come again but not to this hotel. But for one night it was OK.

Money stolen from room safe from 4 in tour group. Total of 1600 USD and 50 Euro. Many hotel staff (including housekeepers) know how to open safe without overriding the code the guest puts in. The override code is 123456*. I actually saw one staff member put this code in when I first arrived at the hotel. The 123456* does... More
