This hotel is located in Campigny, a small and quiet village. We made a reservation with 4 adults and 2 children for the larger rooms. They were spacious and could comfortably accommodate 3 people. The terrace was quiet and gave readily access to the swimming pool. The rooms had the basic amenities and an in-room safe, but there was no fridge or mini-bar. It was possible, though, to take something to the room at night from the bar. Wifi was slow and not constant, but they were working on it and it should be better in a few weeks. The bathroom ventilation was not optimal, so after showering, it remained very humid and misty. Because the hotel is relatively isolated we had our dinner mostly at the restaurant. The menu was changed every day and was good. Wines were affordable. Service was a bit slow and varied with the waiter/waitress on duty. At one time there was no Cola Zero any more (?). The breakfast was in the buffet format and had a choice of local produce. The scrambled eggs were excellent.

We visited in May and enjoyed a fantastic overnight stay at the hotel. An excellent dinner, very good wine and superb service.

We especially appreciated the dinner served in the elegant restaurant as dinner was closed to non hotel guests. Owner/Chef Jean-Marie Huard opened the kitchen and produced a wonderful gourmet meal, even accommodating our food requests.

Fantastic food and a great wine selection, some real stunners by the glass as well. I particular enjoyed the St.Estephe!

Overall a great stay tucked away in the Normandy countryside set in a very elegant setting.

Highly recommended if you are in the area. Our thanks to Jean-Marie and the team for making our visit such a great stay.

Set in an attractive parkland the hotel is a great place to relax and wind down from the noise and bustle of urban life.

Every effort has been made to be Covid- secure, the staff are warm and friendly and the rooms, although not large, are comfortable.

There is an excellent buffet breakfast.

This is a beautiful place - very enchanting in the countryside. Our room with a terrace was spacious, modern, and comfortable. The hosts are so accommodating and lovely! Very dog friendly, and the grounds are fab for a dog too. They have an electric car charger, which is super helpful too. The dinner was superb - and gluten free options too!! We really enjoyed our experience here. I’d love to return.

One drawback was it was very hot out and would have been helpful to have a fan or cooling for the room. It was ok overnight with the terrace door open, but I think a better method may be needed overall.

What a nice review, thank you ! We are happy to welcome you and your dog. It is now possible to charge your electric car in our car park. We have increasingly frequent heat peaks in Normandy, the quietness of the garden allows you to sleep with the windows open and hear the birds singing in the morning

My husband booked this hotel for five days for my birthday. The attention we received was exceptional, the room was very confortable, lovely good bathroom with brilliant shower (I am partially disabled and cannot use a bath). It had a large glass door leading to a lovely little deck with table and chairs, all sorrounded by a greenery garden. The meals were exceptionally good. We had 1 light lunch and 4 dinners and all of them were brilliant!

Hmmmm. It looked great in the photos - picturesque and quaint - and on arrival we were impressed ...... until we looked closer. We only stayed one night but it was enough for us to decide never to return.

Good points: Quiet. Good, tasty food (but the service wasn't up to much). Pretty, 'picture postcard' appearance. Er .... that's about it.

Bad points: Closer inspection revealed a very jaded hotel that seems to be living on past glories. It really is in need of money being spent on a big refurbishment. The room looked OK but was cold and quite damp (and heating was refused because 'it isn't yet September'. Yes, really!). The extractor fans didn't work in the loo or bathroom (which had a twee, open window into the bedroom, causing additional dampness). The shower screen was expertly constructed to deliver copious quantities of water all over the floor - ten minute shower, twenty minute mopping up exercise. No tea-making facilities (although we now know that this is normal in France). Thoughtless, tired decor and a very odd mix of gloomy and 1950's glaring lighting. And DOGS IN THE RESTAURANT! For goodness sake! Are they kidding?

Worst point: Ridiculous cost of stay for what you actually get (both room and food). I honestly think that the owners must be laughing up their sleeves at how much money they are raking in, without feeling the need to spend any of it on providing their guests with either decent, well maintained surroundings or proper, friendly service (I accept that we are English and maybe are not treated with the same deference as other nationalities!).

One to avoid for a couple of years until they wake up and invest in an upgrade of both the building and their attitude to the people who give them a living.

Stayed here one night on way to holiday villa. Room adequate but very small and no more than three-star accommodation - certainly not worth €160. Dinner in the restaurant was very disappointing. Service was extremely slow and disorganised. Food of mediocre quality and grossly over-priced. My wife found thumbnail sized piece of bone in minced oxtail and potato side dish that came with so-called 'fillet' steak - in reality cheap frying steak, fish soup served lukewarm, tasteless langoustine ravioli, foie gras cooked in cheap oil, etc etc. Altogether very disappointing - strong 'avoid' recommendation.

We had been, very kindly given a “Wonderbox coups de coer Michelin” meal for two. We made a reservation at the renowned Le Petit Coq aux Champs for Saturday 12th May 2012. Unfortunately we were totally disappointed.

We arrived 40 minutes prior to our booking allowing time so that we could enjoy an aperitif in their famously beautiful gardens on what was a beautifully sun early evening , we were told NO to the aperitif in the garden and shown straight to our table. We ordered aperitifs “suggested” by our waiter but not allowed to enjoy them as our “SET MENU” was served almost immediately. The menu was read to us no choices were offered the first course of foie gras was almost raw and swimming in cheap oil NO TASTE , the fish course was overcooked and the sauce a travesty of all that the word offers tasteless.

The veal was good!! The cheese course only confirmed that we were 2nd class clients we were presented with a breakfast bowl of lettuce with a small spoonful some sort of soft cheese, while the table next to us had a choice of 15- 20 cheeses all with an accompanying explanation, the desert consisted of a medley of sweets and a chocolate rock cake!!.

We spent £500.00 travelling to France especially for this meal with ferry and accommodation costs not to mention the 66.00 Euros spent on a taxi to and from the restaurant.

The Michelin organisation should re-visit this establishment on a “Wonderbox Gift Voucher we think Raymond Blanc would laugh once he was over the shock of such a terribly establishment, we’re not quite laughing yet.

To sum this establishment up in one word “TERRIBLE.”

I went there for lunch with family and friends and we were terribly disappointed. This place is hell. After sitting one hour, close to neighbours in a room with no soul, we had finished our first bottle of wine without seeing any other food but cheap butter and pistachio...
After the delay, the worst was to come with our meal. A real disgrace. Nothing was worth a quarter of the price we had to pay. Food had no taste, was dry and we were still hungry after lunch. And needless to say, the service is worst than in a parisian café.
Avoid this place. There are good and honest restaurants around.
