After two weeks working in village schools this was just the luxury needed to wind down. The villa was immense - think one bedroom flat, and had stunning views of the bay. The panoramic bathroom view took some getting used to but wow - what a loo with a view! The S.African chef produced amazing cuisine throughout from the braai... More

The lodge is a three and a half hour drive or so from Lilongwe airport. My villa (number 1) was massive. A sink, fridge with water, beer and soft drinks, kettle, tea and coffee in the entrance area, large sitting room with sofa, chairs, a lake view verandah, large bathroom, double headed shower, lion footed bath with lake views, bedroom... Beautiful location, great food, friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast dhow, though be careful with room choice as not all have lake view and the quality/size of rooms varies significantly. Would recommend going before rainy season kicks in.

Heaven on earth, and exceptional service. Had the best swim of our lives at Otters point on the snorkeling trip. Staff very helpful and professional. Food was fantastic. Accomodation is spectacular. This is a place you can really unwind. In my view arguably the best place to stay in Lake Malawi National Park. Recommend staying at least 3 nights to... More

Pumalani as resort is magnficent it has picturesque views and a relaxing atmosphere. However the management of the resort leaves alot to be desired the individuals we met with were very rude to us and showed very little flexibility in meeting our needs (i.e. dietary requirements). The food was terrible with extremely small portions, lacked freshness. I found the rooms... More

I loved Pumulani lodge. The rooms/ villas are huge. The bathroom alone bigger than many appartments in the West. The views of the lake are wonderful. And at night the only noise you hear is birds and the baboons playing nearby. Food is not their strong point but it was fine - just nothing to write home about. The staff... More

The place had been recommended by the Lonely Planet travelguide, that's why we drove by, on our long distance travel Europe - South Africa. As to read, we've not been the first ones, that tried to visit this place by showing up. But, other like Mark, here in the review we got no access. Here is, how it went, written... More

The place is the private reserve, so there are no local venders to annoy us. I spent a night at Pumulani with our friend as the escape from busy and tired working days. Right after stepping into the place, there was so much hospitality. Every staff was friendly and very helpful. Sunset cruise and astronomical observation were my favorite of... More
