We just returned from a 4 night stay as Glacier Lodge in lodge 17. The accommodation and surroundings were as expected (and as described by most of the reviews below). The lodge itself was functional, not fancy. It has everything you need though, from a good working fridge and oven to a relatively good bed. The decoration is 'rustic' in... More

I starting going to the original Glacier Lodge when there was actually a Glacier Lodge 1967. It burned down about 20 something years ago. There were plans to re build it but it so far has not happened. See LA times article several years ago. I have stayed in the little cabins many times and have had many great memories... More

Thank you for your review i think, unfortunately re-building the lodge takes money but we do our best with what we have. we have started re-modeling cabins but i don't see any TV's/WI-FI coming in the near future being that we are located at 8000ft with towering mountains all around us. We also run off of a hydro generator that... More

Kathy and her crew at Glacier Lodge made it possible for my wife, Vickie, and me to enjoy the mid-elevation of the Sierra Nevada early in the season, as they were open before the Forest Service campgrounds in Big Pine Canyon. Their effort and dedication required to stay one step ahead of Nature to make this happen was evident. We... More

Glacier Lodge is the gateway to the high country of Big Pine Creek and the seven lake basin. It was a favorite backpacking area for my wife and I for week long trips up to the higher lakes and the Palisade Glacier. My wife can't handle the back packs any more but we still love the mountains and came here... More

Started coming up here in 2014. Been here 4 weekends in 2015 so far. Stayed in a cabin every time. Would drive on 395 up to Mammoth skiing every year from LA and wonder what was up in these eastern Sierra canyons. Did a little research but not much information is available. We were pleasantly surprised when we found Glacier... More

A large family crew slept in their dog friendly 9 person cabin for 3 nights over Labor Day Weekend 2014. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had plenty of gear and there was a lot of hot water. The immediately nearby long day hikes were strenuous and led us to some awesome views. The waterfalls and lakes are beautiful. We... More

Such a beautiful spot - right at the trailhead up into the Palisades above Big Pine, California. These are strenuous day hikes, but worth it. Elevation is nearly 8000 feet at the trailhead. This is a review of the TENT AND RV CAMPSITES only, not the cabins, but the cabins looked tidy and well kept up, and are likely very... More

The Glacier Lodge is a misnomer. The lodge burned down several years ago and all that remains are several cabins and a small store. The owner is nice and pleasant. The accomodations are very rustic. It is surprising the sign says to clean the cabins before leaving because the cost is over $150.00. It is a bit irritating that the... More

We went to Glacier Lodge to acclimatize for a backpack trip. The cabin we got was fairly clean and somewhat dilapidated. The bed was pretty good, the couch was newish, but you can hardly turn around in the bathroom. The kitchen, dishes, & floor needed a bit of cleaning. The sink was like something out of an old trailer. The... More

“If your a tent camper the quality of your tent and equipment will be an important factor in your stay anywhere. The ground is fairly smooth and level at the sites but can be a little rocky for your stakes so I suggest heavy duty tent stakes that can take the force to drive past the rocks.”
