Detailed Reviews
This was me and my husband 1st trip to CA. We booked the Golden Haven spa based on reviews and were not disappointed. The staff is wonderful. We stayed there for 2 nights and did the mud bath and massage. Mud bath is a must, it is one of the most relaxing experiences ever. Everything from the spa, rooms and town is very welcoming. Definitely will be planning another trip there.

like they say... when in Rome! OK, we had to try the mud baths. I was a little skeptical based on people telling me this mud smells but I wanted to try it. It was definitely different but Amazing! The mud did smell, but our wonderful attendant sprayed eucalyptus spray which helped. We did a couples package and found a 2-4-1 on deal foursquare (score!) so we added on massages. Mud baths and massages were great. The place looks like a motel from the road so I was skeptical, but it was very clean and the staff was excellent. I would do it again! You also get to use the amenities before or after your treatment which is nice. Also, bring your camera. Your attentant will snaps some pics of you in the mud. Its a great little souvineer :)

I had a couples mud bath here, for the novelty of the experience and also because I love spas and hot springs. This was nothing like most of the spas I've been to. Dated, dimly-lit, no effort put into the atmosphere or decor. The mud bath room was grey and institutional, with ancient plastic mats and showers. I thought the mud bath was kind of fun, but my partner hated it and found it disgusting. It stinks, and doesn't feel at all like being pampered. The 'experience' ends with you lying in a small room, sweating into a blanket, listening to Enya. It's not even very relaxing: you can hear doors banging and people talking outside in the corridor. Overall, pretty unimpressed.

This was our first visit to Golden Haven. First impressions were very good - property is clean, well maintained, and has a friendly staff. Our first mud bath was quite an experience. Marta explained step by step how the visit worked and we simply followed her instructions. The mud (volcanic ash) was hotter the deeper you got in the bath. We were buried in the mud for 10 - 15 minutes, which was enough for me. Then a nice cleansiing shower followed by mineral hot springs jacuzzi. After that we were shown into a room where we experienced soothing music and a blanket wrap. We must have been in that room totally relaxing for 15 - 20 minutes. Overall it was a very soothing and delightful experience. Their website does offer 1/2 price specials if the time fits your schedule (it did for us). We then proceeded to use their two minerla spring jacuzzis which were very nice. Again we were impressed with the cleanliness.

Most of the reviews are spot on. Don't expect a Four Seasons spa experience. This place offers a great mud bath and that is what you go for. Our massages were average at best so stick to just the mud bath and go in with an open mind.

I stayed here in the summer of 2013 for the fourth of July weekend. The room had a separate bedroom I was not expecting, therefore, more than plenty of space. The rooms do use hot water from the springs and therefore there is a sulfur smell. Be prepared for that. We slept well and enjoyed our time here. In the back parking area was a gathering spot to see the fireworks from the fair. We were glad we were at our room and could enjoy a drink, relax, watch the fireworks without having crowds or worry about driving. We met an off duty employee enjoying the fireworks with her husband and had the greatest conversation. Seldom do we meet people that are so down to earth. The spa treated us like royalty. The massages were great. I think the mud was too hot for the time we went. We were there fourth of July weekend and I believe it was over 100* outside, not the best time for a hot mud bath. It would be better if they updated the mud facilities which reminded me of the sixties. The rooms have some components that are updated and some reminders of the age of the facility.

Loved the place - did the "girlfriends getaway package" - room was nice and spacious, the massages were yummy, the mud bath - different, not what I expected - but ok... bed was very comfy. The mineral pools were ok - just felt a bit like a gym pool. Met all of our expectations.

This is a property that perfectly matches a classy experience and the lack of a pretentious attitude. For those of us that are not 1%ers, but who still want to appreciate some of the spoils of the good life, then this is the very good place. Every staff member was friendly, and I sensed no attitude at all.
The rooms and grounds are nice. They could possibly stand for a bit of modernization in some places, but everything works and is comfortable. It's not a giant property, so there won't be multitudes of people around, so there is a sense of solitude.
The spa experience was extremely relaxing. I had never done a mud bath before, so was surprised that there was much more to it than just laying in some mud. And the massage was excellent! Kink in neck GONE! :)
I would certainly come back here again. I'm not high society, but I do have standards, and this property more than met them.

The swimming pool and jacuzzi's are fantastic. We have met many other happy couples there. The room with a spa is spacious, comfortable, stylish, & clean--with king-size bed, large LCD TV with cable, a desk, table & chairs, fridge, ironing board & iron, coffee-pot & mugs, complimentary candies & spring water, & a huge shower with a firm oxygenated nozzle--& then there is the private spa, right in your room. Fresh-brewed coffee awaits you in front of the office @ 7:30AM. Then there are the famous mud baths, massages, & wraps. But now there is more!
There are additional new features that can't be beat: Like the newly paved & expanded parking lot, the 8 bikes & helmets, the ping pong table, the double hammock, the Bocci Courts, & the clubhouse ( with snacks & drinks, a large dining room & living room with games, & a large LCD TV with cable.)
Everyone here is extremely pleasant & helpful, making you feel like you are part of the family. Every accommodation is made for your enjoyment & convenience, and a lot of thought has gone into meeting your every need.
We enjoyed being here so much, that we are ready to tell everyone we can about it. What is so unique about this place, is that we felt we could be happy staying right here, as there is so much to do.

My husband and I were greeted by Shirley who was so kind and helpful. We had signed up for a mud bath and massage. Matea walked us through the mud bath experience which we thoroughly enjoyed. She was very attentive and made sure everything was ok. This was followed by a 1 hour massage. Dala and Shannon were our massage therapists. My husband and I said it was the best massage we ever had. We enjoyed our stay and spa experience at the Golden Haven Resort.

Hi, I wish we took more notice. After the massages we went back to a little dressing area, slipped into swim wear and we went straight to the mineral pool. We were floating from the treatments and we had no reason to get ready to go out....I'm sorry I couldn't help you better. Whatever you do, I don't think you'll not be disappointed.
No problem at all. Also, don't worry about spilling any mud. Can't be avoided. Enjoy it. I know we did.
