We chose this for its convenient location, close to some relatives we were visiting. It was fine. Nothing special, but fine. Nice comfortable beds and pillows. The shower worked fine. Nice TV. Everything worked fine, including the Wi-Fi. Overall, a fine experience.
Easy friendly check in. Clean room with good air conditioning/heater. Nice pool and lobby. Please note, no rooms with patio are double Q - only King reservations have a patio facing the pool on any floor. Exterior rooms still quiet but view blocked by large RV. Hoping they won’t idle during night, fingers crossed.
The Sonesta's very professional staff quickly checked us in to our clean, spacious king room with a patio overlooking the pool. Just right for a one-stay after a nearby wedding at a winery. Breakfast is not included but the Old New York Deli restaurant was open for breakfast and coffee, just steps away.
Every single thing about our stay felt like an effort to save money at our expense. "We only clean rooms every four days." I'm used to reusing towels and don't expect the sheets to be changed until we check out to save water/power, but not emptying garbage or anything?! Dirty Hallways... food, garbage, stains. Very poor soundproofing... people in the hall sound like they're in your room. People walking upstairs sound like a herd of inebriated pachyderms charging around. Suprise billing $20 for parking... in the lot that is part of the strip mall. Uncovered of course. At least let us know up front... very tacky. In room coffee maker, sure. But nobody will give you coffee since they only do room service every four days. Plus the sweetener/creamer packet is so cut-rate it doesn't include a stirrer?! Really? Guess I'm supposed to use my finger to save them a half-cent. Couldn't connect to wifi and didn't bother chasing it. On the bright side, external walls did keep the freeway sound out.…
Rooms are good sized with a nice pull out desk. Lobby area ,with small bar and breakfast and lunch limited food items, is pleasant and comfortable. Bed quality and sleep comfort very good . Hotel is at the back of a small shopping plaza so convenient. Excellent NY Delhi next door as well as best restaurant in Camarillo, "Bistro 13". Nice big pool with room to swim laps. Good choice in the Camarillo area as is in a quieter , leafier part of town
Very friendly staff. Poor wifi connection and needed an outside it consultant to call and connect us. Halls dark and bathroom could use an update. There are better in Camarillo. On-site bar/breakfast lounge staff nice but not skilled. We used Old New York Deli for breakfast despite long lines
Dirty! Linens had visible poop and blood stains, especially where people sit on the edge of the bed. Don't they wash and inspect linens? Replacements linens also had visible poop and blood stains. Then we shined phone flashlight on linens which showed more stains! Others have commented on room smell which may be the mold growing out of the bathroom wall which they paint over so it's harder to spot. Housekeepers are mean, even if you're friendly, and if you ask for something they shove it at you or refuse. Front desk doesn't answer the phone, and ladies at front desk are so rude. I called front desk when my spouse happened to be around lobby and saw the woman at front desk just standing there not answering phone. What if someone had an emergency? Or needed linens with no poop stains so they could get to sleep?…
We are staying at this hotel today, our experience has been horrible, they gave us a room that is located next to the door on the north side of the hotel, we talked to change rooms because we could not sleep with so much noise that there is generated at close the door, the solution they gave us was to pay more for the room change, I don't understand why when entering they didn't comment on this detail, I think that's when we could say stay or leave, I'm so upset, we couldn't have a quiet night, today we have to drive again and with such a bad night we had this will be hell.
This hotel does not enforce masks, will threaten to charge you $250 for smoking marijuana OUTSIDE, and will double charge you without telling you. I was double charged my stay, when I checked I paid $750 cash, yet the day after my card was charged $750. When I went to the front desk they said, “ we were waiting for you to come to us “ and gave me a code I could give my bank. They should have told me immediately, you don’t charge someone’s card $750 without saying something... it’s not like it’s $20. Me and my partner smoked outside in the designated smoking area, and when we came back inside some girl knocked on our door and said “ My manager will charge you $250 for weed smell, so here is this spray.” And ran away. Why would I be charged $250 for smoking OUTSIDE? AND WHY ARE YOU COMING TO MY DOOR PAST MIDNIGHT, BUT YOU COULDN’T TELL ME YOU DOUBLE CHARGED MY CARD? I was already over my stay due to this irritation, and on the day I checked out the hotel staff had the audacity to ignore mask regulations. As I was checking out at the front desk, an older woman came up to the teller next to me with no mask and a holding her shirt to her face. The teller helped her without saying anything, so I said “she doesn’t have to wear a mask?” BOTH TELLERS IGNORED ME. I said excuse me, and she said the shirt was fine. I said that’s not what I asked. My teller said “we try to enforce like 95% of the time, i can call her room”. This was bs, I saw other people in the halls with no mask and I was wondering why they were so comfortable. It makes sense now, since the check-in desks were not even enforcing properly. I will never be staying here again, and I hope you don’t either. I stayed at this hotel for six nights, and checked out March 27 2021.…
Very very bad. Someone staying with our group had fresh BLOOD on their sheets. Beyond disgusted. If they had told us after the first night, we would have left. We were charged for parking. This was NEVER discussed and the parking lot was not a restricted lot - shared with many businesses. Friends also staying in hotel were charged and they did even have a car. Room were not cleaned daily - which I understand - but it should have been noted or a sign in the rooms (there was a sign about leaving towels on the floor to have them refreshed and about the tip for the housekeeper). Wallpaper was peeling in restroom and popcorn ceilings. Very, very bad stay!
