A long way off the beaten track, Blue River is a beautiful resort with amazingly luxurious villas at super low prices (around $70 per night). So you might ask why we've given such a low score. There are two main reasons for that: 1) As we were on our honeymoon, we wanted to grab every opportunity to try new experiences....

The website and other reviews we read prepared us for what to expect when we arrived at Blue River Resort, and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted by friendly staff who promptly got us checked in and to our room. All of the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. The Botanical Gardens were gorgeous, although we didn't...

This resort is the perfect place to relax, recharge and enjoy nature. The property is well designed and the amenities are wonderful. The spa and workout area looked nice but we preferred to be outdoors enjoying the winding walking paths through the botanical gardens. We also took advantage of the volcanic mud, natural sauna and amazing hot springs. I thought...

It's a unique place off the beat path. The individual cabins are pretty, a little dark on the inside but overall clean and spacious. Very quiet so bring a book or do lots of trips off the property. The view of the volcano was spectacular and we saw toucans around the property. The landscaping is very nice though they are...

We almost didn't go to Blue River Resort because it was a little off the beaten path... but it was so worth it!! It was a fun adventure to get there, and once we were there, it was magical. It felt like we were on another planet. The owner and his wife happened to be there at the time, and...

My wife and I, along with our 3 young kids, 3 yrs., 8 yrs, and 12 yrs. spent 3 days and 2 nights at Blue River. We loved it. The hot spring pools are great and the turbo slide and cold pool were endless enjoyment for our kids. Early morning walks through the botanical gardens to the butterfly farm were...

My husband, 8 year old son and I stayed at Blue River for 3 nights this January. First the positives: beautiful setting, awesome hot pools that change every day as far as the temperature is concerned. This was nice so my son could enjoy them all. The cold pool with the "rocket slide" is so fun for kids and adults...

The hotel itself is very beautiful & charming. It is not located where we thought it would be. Although it is located near the volcano (Rincon de la Vieja) it is located on the opposite side of the park entrance - a 2 hour drive away! Sadly, we did not even see the volcano as it was cloudy our entire...

I go to Costa Rica at least once a year to see family. Typically, we all go to Arenal for a few days or to the beach, but we wanted to do something different this vacation. We decided to go to the Rincon de la Veja instead. This was our first time out to this particular part of Costa Rica,...

Spent 3 nights there in early January with my husband and 3 young adult sons. Thought the road getting there was rough but not that bad - we had a rental SUV and it was fine but definitely not a road you want to be driving in and out of every day! The views en route are beautiful. Blue River...
