First I have to admit I can understand he critical comments about the old facility's, obvious that the houses are not new anymore, also the pool and hot springs. BUT we liked it a lot in the middle of forest to have a remote cabin spend some time in the hot springs and a must is the horseback ride really... More

To be honest, I feel a bit badly about giving them one star because the resort is actually quite nice. We stayed in a superior villa and it was everything I would have hoped. The hotsprings weren't that nice...but the pool is gorgeous. So, that's my review. My big problem with this is place is that they charged me THREE... More

Just spent a few days up here Getting here was crazy - the closest bridge was out and I had to guess which way to take the river crossing and ended up bottoming out and crunching the undercarriage of truck. I had a friends daughter in our truck and my friend was driving a sedan So he turned back because... More

What an amazing location! Nice independent rooms, very well laid out in an amazing property. Ideal for hiking and exploring, great views if you take the walk to the look out point (Mirador). Pool area is ok, not the best! Restaurant is a bit expensive ($24 Costa Rican casado). I would come back. Ideal for couples, small families. Be prepared... More

Borinquen is in a very remote area near Rincon de la Vieja. It is quite a drive up the mountain to the resort but the way is marked very clearly all the way from the main highway. We stayed in a cabin that was very far up on the hill. They offer carts to drive you around which work very... More

I loved our stay at Hotel Borinquen! It was probably my favorite hotel on our Costa Rica - Nicaragua trip. It is a beautiful resort nestled high up on the mountain side. We experienced horse back riding, zip lining, mud baths, natural steam baths, nature hiking and hieroglyphics all in one day!! How can it get any better than that?... More

Had a fabulous 2-3 hour horse ride at this resort - really enjoyed it, Was not brave enough to attempt the natural waterslide but looked fun for group members that did. Zip lining back down the valley I hated. Husband & I were a lot older (50's) than most of the group (20's & 30's) so my level of fitness... More

This is my second time back, and planning on my third trip with my family already. The service exceptional. The rooms, especially the Junior Suite is magnificent. Completely secluded in the mountains of Rincon de La Vieja, very peaceful and serene!!!

I stayed here for 8 days as a solo traveler for the 2nd half of my trip to Costa Rica in mid-Sept, during the rainy season. I will first briefly outline my experience here, then will conclude with some tips/recommendations should you decide to visit/stay at this resort. Borinquen is one of the most beautiful resorts I've stayed, and is... More

A very remote resort ideal for those who want to disconnect and enjoy a great variety of outdoor, adventure, wellness and relaxation activities. The manicured landscape is stunning and the spacious rustic bungalows offer all the amenities. We did the horse-riding and canopy tour, visiting a couple of waterfalls. Their zip-lines are the best in Costa Rica, with (literally) breathtaking... More
