Stayed here for a few nights December 24-27, in peak season. It is a beautiful, quiet place. Our cabin had a backyard with a hammock and an incredible view of the rolling hills of the nearby farms. We saw cows and horses on the pastures in the distance, and there are many different birds on the property. The food was...

This was our first stop after experiencing a lot of rain in Belize. The lodge was clean, we had great service and was good value. Unfortunately, we did not give Rincon de La Vieja much of a chance since it continued to rain there as well. We were tired of being wet so we decided to to leave and go...

Rinconcita is on the east, Santa Maria, side of Rincon de la Vieja National Park. The cabins and dining area are located on a hillside with lovely gardens and view of the sunset. There are many birds and the stars at night are spectacular. Meal choices (breakfast is included) are ample, good, and reasonable--the fresh fish was delicious. The staff...

First off, the hotel was gorgeous. The building is basic and straightforward, but the stars are absolutely breathtaking and make up for anything the structure lacks. However, I had a situation with a peeping Tom in the shower. The window was completely clear and had no curtain. At the end of my shower, I saw a man's face watching me...

We decided to stop here because we missed our road and the night was coming. The staff was very great, helpful. The restaurant is really good and breakfast is included in the price. We stayed in a house made of wood with 3 beds and a large bathroom, fan and mosquito protection. Everything was totally clean. You can also stay...

I was there last September in rainy season. Only one backpacker on my solo trip. They let me build my tent in the garden under shelter. And take a cold (you really dont need hot water even in Costa Ricans so called winter). The staff was very nice for me. I highly recommend not to go alone in the park....

Staying here is the alternative option to staying in Liberia to access Parque Nacional Rincon de la Vieja. This hotel is closest to the Santa Maria Sector of the park. Santa Maria contains beautiful tropical dry and humid forest on the slopes of the volcano, but be aware that the famous mud pots and better waterfalls of Rincon are on...

We spent two days here. The staff was friendly, helpful, and kind. The rooms are basic but clean and the food is typical Costa Rican fare, but quite tasty. It's a beautiful location and having such welcoming staff made the experience even more comfortable. We loved the waterfall hike, horseback riding, and views of the volcano. It's worth the trek...

We headed up to Rincon de la Vieja to see the volcanic highlands and dry or seasonal rainforest. This place is very close to the main entry of the national park. It is quite remote and therefore very quiet. It's a bit of an odd location, on the edge of cleared land for cattle and horses, but the forest is...

We visited Costa Rica in the first week of March, which I guess is a really windy time of year in Guanacaste as it was windy during our entire 10 day trip there. Not only is it windy during the day, but also at night. Sometimes the wind was stronger at night than during the day. Unfortunately for my folks...
