Simply, a terrific hotel! Probably the best overall hotel in Bhutan - service and amenities exceed 3 stars, in my opinion.

The hotel is set on a hilltop, about 1km out of town. Rooms are large/spacious and offer a beautiful view of the valley and agriculture fields! Most rooms, mine included, offered a view of the valley.

Paro was quite cold in December, so I was extremely happy that rooms were well heated! Staff even turned on the heaters prior to my arrival, so my room was nice and warm! Rooms also are equipped with extra blankets for cold nights!

Beds are comfortable and pillows, linen are very clean! I slept very soundly!

Room amenities were appreciated and restocked each day including: 2 bottles of water, Nescafé packets, milk powder packets, tea, sugar, Dove shampoo and conditioner packets, bars of soap. The room also had an electric kettle, working flatscreen tv/satellite with many English news and entertainment channels, a ceiling fan, and 2 electric heaters for cold evenings! A mini fridge was also in the room, but I didn't use mine. Staff were so kind to leave me extras of everything each morning, since they could see that I was using the Nescafé, milk powder and shampoo/conditioner packets frequently!

Rooms were nicely furnished with wooden floors, 2 chairs, a coffee table, a wooden cabinet for luggage storage, and a bed side table with lamp.

Bathrooms were clean and spacious. Towels were very nice and were replaced daily with room cleaning! The toilet and shower were both very clean! Hot water was an issue only on my first evening at the hotel (not sure why, but the water was tepid, borderline cold!). Shower pressure wasn't amazing, but it did the trick! Tub and shower were enclosed with curtain.

Wifi signal was super strong and worked well in the rooms! But they give you a code, and sometimes that code times out, so you will need to re-enter the wifi code maybe once a day.

Meals at the hotel were outstanding! I didn't participate in the buffet offerings, since I have dietary preferences that weren't a match, but it looked good! The hotel staff went out of their way to provide exceptional full board meals for me that were in line with my dietary preferences (namely high protein, steamed vegetables and fresh fruits). The kitchen staff prepared amazing meals for me, and I was hugely appreciative that meals were made to order and specification!

The hotel staff, from reception to cleaning and kitchen were so friendly, courteous and hospitable. I enjoyed my 3 night stay at this hotel very much, and I highly recommend this hotel to travellers in and around the Paro region. Just superb, overall, more in line with a 4 star hotel!

I just spent two nights at this hotel. The property is very physically appealing. The rooms are large and each appears to have a fantastic view of the city of Paro below. You also have unobstructed views of the national museum, fortress, and incoming airplanes. The location is on the mountainside, so while the city is nearby you would need to be willing to do a steep walk at times. The wifi mostly worked during the stay. The only negative I have to report is the extreme cold temperature of the room, as the heater is not adequate to deliver a comfortable temperature during the winter. I tried to sit and sleep right next to the heater but it's not enough. The hot water was so strong that it's almost unusable to shower in, however, other travelers in my group reported little to no hot water at all. The bar service was good during the entire stay.

This was the last stop on our tour of Bhutan. We’d been to Thimphu and Punakha and we spent the last 3 nights here. This is family run hotel and it reminded me of my own family’s hotel in Dublin. The warmth and welcome we received from the family and the staff was very heart warming.

The room was very much in an alpine chalet style, - wooden walls & floors and magnificent views across the Paro valley. There was a very effective convection heater which kept the room nice and toasty as long as we kept the bathroom door closed.

In common with the other hotels on our journey though Bhutan, this is a fairly basic hotel but we were very warm in our room and there was plenty of hot water. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well for the most part. Barking dogs are present but the white noise app on my phone was a great help whilst we slept.

The shower arrangement in the bathroom was odd, I think it was a wet room but we couldn’t face the prospect of the bathroom being covered in water so we opted to have baths instead. This was quite lovely actually as the view out the bathroom windows was absolutely stunning, day or night.

The food here was cracking, really really good and served with such grace and humour. The restaurant was quite cold but the hotel provided heaters which created a little oasis of warmth around us.

Tea, coffee, kettle etc was provided and Wi-Fi topped out at 7.5mbps.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We spent a total of 3 nights at this hotel in Paro. For us, it was easily the worst place we stayed at in 2 weeks in Bhutan. We were in the room closest to the lobby. The first night there was tons of noise right outside the room from a group of bicycle riders.

Right off the bat, some of the power outlets didn't work. When my husband went to take a shower, there was no hot water. They subsequently managed to "fix" the hot water problem but only partially. We had a choice then of either scalding hot water or cold water because of the dysfunctional water valves. The last night we spent there (before flying out of Paro), we did not shower at all. That morning, there was only one choice of water: hot. From the sink and the shower. The breakfast was adequate but not very good. We had far better food elsewhere for breakfast. We did not eat dinner there. The rooms are small but of adequate size. The bed and pillows were okay and the room was clean.

The hotel does offer great views across the rice fields and the Paro valley. The views may outweigh the negatives, especially if you don't need a shower!

Solid 3-star hotel. I did not like the food, breakfast or supper, unfortunately. The staff members were kind, but did not seem as well trained in hospitality as most other hotels. I needed assistance late at night, but the one person in the lobby did not prove very helpful. The room was very nice, though, and clean. Bhutan is very cold at night in the winter and, even with a heater, your room will be cool at night. The shower temperature was difficult to regulate-too hot or too cold-but that seemed to be a thing in Bhutan. The view is stunning day and night.

The resort is nice with almost all basic amenities. The service is really good and the staff is also caring. The hotel manager is a very good person who always keep on trying to give his customers a good and healthy service. The rooms are really nice. The cleanliness is also very good. We were six people who visited Paro and took three rooms. All the rooms were similar and had a cool stay. We still remember the food. Whatever we ordered was outstanding.

This hotel has a very good location overlooking Paro Valley. One can see Paro Dzong, the airport and the rice fields from the room balcony. Its facilities are average just like most 3-3.5 star tourist hotels. The food at the hotel restaurant is also average. For better bhutanese food visit the various farmhouses that cater for tourists. Staff are all friendly and courteous but there are a few that cannot speak english.

If you are in Paro and wondering where to stay, look no further. Just book Mandala. This property's 3 star rating is an understatement.

We were bowled over by the spectacular views from this resort when we first arrived there. You really get to appreciate the beauty of the Paro valley if you stay here. We were here 3 nights and even until the last evening, I couldn't get enough of the view.

The rooms are clean, well furnished and well lit, due to the enormous glass windows overlooking the Paro valley. There is also a sit out balcony. So you can enjoy your morning tea with a glorious view! Even the bathtub offers a peek into the valley. I thought that was plain genius.

Next best thing was the Food. We had some of the most tasty Indian food in Bhutan at this place. We tried various restaurants in the valley and I can confidently say that this place serves one of the best Indian food. At times we drove up all the way just to eat lunch at the resort and then carry on with our sightseeing.

All of this at the most reasonable prices! We stayed in all range of hotels in Bhutan, including some 5 star hotels. But our overall experience at Mandala was unmatched and far ahead that of all other hotels. Also, owner Mr Navin is a very nice and down-to-earth person who will happily give you tips for your itinerary!

I stayed here for four nights for work (ran a workshop that took place in the hotel's conference room).
Positive: fantastic view of Paro, the dzong, the valley with its rice paddies. I had an enormous room above the dining room with the same view. Very clean, friendly staff, food not spectacular but good.
Not so positive: the hallways are very loud, so when a tour group leaves early in the morning, you'll hear it. I got woken up just before 5am one morning for this reason.
I took a shower on my first day and flooded the bathroom. When I asked that they check the drain I was told to take a shower in the bathtub. OK, not a big deal, but it would have been nice if they'd at least checked out the drain.
The price you pay for the fabulous view is that it's not really within walking distance of Paro town. While the staff are friendly they are not all very well trained. Twice staff walked in after knocking once without waiting for my reply (one time they perhaps understood my "one moment, please" as a "come in, please").
We needed a working internet connection for the workshop, but not once during the three days did the internet work in the conference room. There was also no wifi connection in the rooms, though there were routers in the hallways. The only place it did work sometimes was in the lobby, which often was icy cold. The manager was informed but he seemed pretty relaxed about it. One of the staff members did try his best to work on the problem.
The hotel offers hot stone baths. On the day when I could have used one (a cold day with rain and a bit of snow), it was not available. The wood is stored outside, so when it gets wet - no hot stone bath. A pity! Perhaps the hotel could invest in a storage shed for the wood?
So for a holiday it's a fine place to be unless you like to be able to stroll in town after dinner without needing transport. Some of the rooms have balconies. If you're there for work reasons it gets good marks because people can't disappear and the hotel is pleasant, but it gets poor marks for the unreliable/non-existent internet connection.
