Embraced by the forest of Niseko, a modern Japanese style that harmonizes Japanese relaxation with Western playfulness. You can enjoy a time where all five senses are comfortably healed, such as the beautiful nature of the four seasons, a local production for local consumption dinner, and a free-flowing hot spring.

Whether you are a great skier or not, Niseko is a must visit when you are in Hokkaido as many tourists visit this place every year for the slopes. While we enjoy visiting the place, we don't particularly like to stay at a hotel where there are too many people, that's why we chose to stay here when we were in Niseko.

This hotel was located at the corner of Annupuri and the service, scenery, and onsen were first class.

We book the rooms with Kaiseki dinners, which is a traditional Japanese multiple course dinner cuisine consisting of hot pot, fresh sashimi and the catch of the day etc. They serve a different menu every night and we can have different Kaiseki meals throughout our stay. The food was served in their restaurant where it has an unobstructed view of the forest through many full length glass panels. Because it had been snowing quite heavily for the past few days, the scenery of the forest with powdered snow was just amazing,

My in-laws were a little uncomfortable to visit the public onsen even though they don't have that many people. Therefore, we took the chance to book their two private onsens - one for my in-laws and one for us during our stay. It was totally worth it! We had the onsens to ourselves and both private onsens have an indoor and outdoor bath. Having a place on our own was a memorable experience, and we will probably do it again next time.

We also had a traditional Japanese massage in our room on the night we arrive. Their service was excellent. At the end, we had a little chat with our massage masters and one of them told us that the hotel was very popular for HK movie stars, and Tony Leung and Carina Lau had stayed here previously because of the exclusive location. Not sure if it is true or not .... But well, we do enjoy our own stay here.

Oh, there was live music at the lobby each evenings, the performers were a team of husband and wife - one was playing the piano and the other was playing the violin. The music simply made our Christmas stay special.

Not at all familiar with the area, we thought that the Kanro no Mori Hotel would have been closer to the ski areas and restaurants, unfortunately not. There is a shuttle service offered sporadically, but finish early so it's an expensive cab ride back to hotel. Food was mediocre, the staff that did speak English were very helpful. Rooms were ok, pillows are horrendous. Not much to do there, and during the day it's difficult to get a snack or a coffee. The entire Niseko area is beautiful, next time I would stay closer to town.

Just went skiing in Niseko. This hotel is a nice one with a spacious and clean semi Japanese room with no unwanted odour, plus a nice onsen surely not the most extravagant one, but does the job well. Service is commendable, I lost a piece of luggage on the bus ride to hotel first night but they tried really hard and finally find it for me !
Location is a bit far from main ski area, Annupurri is closest but I prefer Hirafu where the slopes are a little bit more interesting and with more dining choices .

But over and all, it is a really nice experience and is warmly recommemded !

My boyfriend booked two rooms here via Agoda. We originally considered getting one big suite for five people but in the end booked one room for myself and him, one room for my parents and sister, which was specifically labeled as a room for 2-3 people. What everyone should realize is that most of these hotels charge per person and they will not bend or be flexible in any way shape or form.

Upon checking in, we asked for an extra futon in my parents' room and that's when they decided that they had to charge for the extra person, even though my boyfriend explained in fluent Japanese that he had already paid for a three person room. If my boyfriend didn't speak Japanese, we would have been in serious trouble because their English was not good enough to have anywhere near that conversation. The extra charge per person was so outrageously expensive, that it would have been cheaper for all of us to be in their biggest suite but it was too late to change into that.

The extra charge covered breakfast and the futon, but not anything else, so they don't provide extra towels or extra yukata outfit to wear to the onsen. Not exactly convenient.

We then asked them to get us a taxi to go to the slopes but they said they called all the taxi companies and there was no taxi for another hour. My boyfriend then called one random number we had and was able to get a cab right away so we were not impressed.

The location is a bit away from the slopes so it's quiet but they do provide free shuttle services. Watch out though because the shuttles don't always run so you have to call them and book your return time in advance; otherwise, the shuttle won't run. But again, with their limited English, this isn't always easy to arrange.

The breakfast buffet is fine, their lunch and dinner options are limited. It's average but compared to the quality of food one can get in Japan for those prices, it's quite disappointing.

The internet doesn't really work (and they have no means to fix it), and they had no idea what I was saying so forget about it.

On the day of check out, four of us were going skiing one more time while my mother wanted a break. We asked to delay check out for one room for one hour, and the answer was a resounding NO unless we paid for one more night. Definitely not helpful and not flexible in the least. They also wouldn't let us store any of our luggage at the front desk because they were for guests checking IN only. So we had to drag five suitcases to their ski center (a small walk away without having to go outside, thankfully), deposit them there, and later when returning had to go pick up the luggage from the ski center back to the main lobby to take the shuttle to the train station.

We were going to Noboribetsu afterwards and the hotel staff provided us with the train times (we needed to change trains as well) and arranged a shuttle which was helpful. But we got to the train station and realized their information was completely incorrect. Luckily, the time table the hotel had was earlier than the actual arrival time of the train so we wasted a little bit of time but much better than say, missing the train altogether. Maybe if their internet was working, we could have Googled the information ourselves!

I realize we were there during peak time (immediately after Christmas) but for the prices we were paying, I thought their effort in making their guests as comfortable as possible was laughable and definitely not the normal standard of Japanese hospitality. The individuals were nice but so tied up in their own rules and policies that they didn't realize they were alienating their guests and their needs, which theoretically should be a top priority. Very disappointed and I would much rather spend my money in other places any day of the week. Don't bother with this place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Kanro no Mori. The breakfast was quite nice- very fresh. The hotel is very peaceful and spacious with kind and helpful staff. We especially liked the individual ski lockers with one dedicated to each room. The ski bus to NOOK Annupuri is convenient, although we would have liked to see just a couple more morning drop-off times on the schedule. After the 9am bus, the next one isn't until 10:10am. A 9:30 bus would be great! The onsen was nice and spacious as well- the outdoor bath is a nice treat with a beautiful snowy view in the winter.

Hotel Kanronomori is about 15-20 mins tucked away from Hirafu & Niseko Station by car. It's ideal for people who desire tranquility and serenity of a retreat.

The western-style twin room was very spacious but the interior was basic and a bit worn out. The television was just a 20" screen but it's ok since I was not there to watch television. There's only one socket outlet to charge my camera, iPad & iPhone...thankfully I brought a multiple USB adaptor. The wifi signal in the room was weak.

I was pampered with the 8-course Kaiseki dinner throughout my stay. All the courses were beautiful presented and served. It's an enjoyment having the dinner while watching the snow falls through the big glassed window. The restaurant staff were courteous and attentive.

The onsen hotel offers variety of onsen, both private and public. The public open air onsen was very cozy, while the private one was too cold for my liking.

There's a souvenir store which sells ski gloves, googles, snacks, etc. The ski rental centre is located at the adjacent building, hence it's very convenient for those who ski. I rented a set of ski equipment at ¥6000 for 2 days. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle bus service to Annupuri Ski Centre, as well as to Niseko train station.

I have met and spoken to a few hotel guests from Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. A number of them revisit and stay at the hotel every year.

Overall, it's a wonderful all-in-one onsen hotel which I thoroughly enjoyed. I would be happy to return in the near future.

My husband and I stayed at Kanronomori over Christmas (2014). The place was completely surrounded by snow, so can't comment to much on the grounds other than you are definitely away from the resort area. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Some English spoken, so plan on being flexible! The smoke-smell, which I had read about, was not noticeable until after breakfast. Would obviously have preferred a non-smoking hotel, but we weren't around enough for it to be a nuisance.

Hotel meals are fun if you are up for an adventure. My husband and I are currently living in Japan and will be doing a lot of traveling so it made sense for us to include the meal, both from a value and experience perspective. If you are a picky eater (vegans, I'm talking about you) or have any kind of food allergy, I would not recommend including the dinner course. It is a set course and they don't speak enough English to make changes or substitutions. While we did not love all of the food, we loved the experience of getting to try so many things and liked a lot of it.

This was our first attempt at an onsen and so having the private outdoor one was greatly appreciated!! Did not look at the public or indoor ones. We also rented snowboarding equipment from here, which I highly recommend - great prices, decent gear, lockers on-site. Used the hotel shuttle to and from mountain and to the Niseko Train Station.

The whole hotel decor is a bit dated, other than that I have no complains.

Great service throughout. Complimentary vehicle pick up at Niseko station upon arrival.
Free wifi ( very strong signal)

Ski rentals & lesson provided by the hotel. Free shuttle to ski slopes right from the hotel.

Onsen is beautiful, soaking in the onsen with snow falling is a experience you won't forget.

The hotel is surrounded by snow covered trees.

Overall a very comfortable stay.

We enjoy our 2-night stay at the hotel before moving to Hilton Niseko for another 4 nights during CNY. . I have to say I am more impressed with this hotel and Hilton. Here are pros and cons:
Pros:
1. Good price (about 30-50% cheaper than Hilton)
2. Great service. The staff is experienced and, even though their English is not good, they are polite and will do whatever to make you happy. We told them we would move to Hilton and they arrange a private shuttle to drop us off. The hotel staff also came off to bow to send us off.
3. Live piano at 7:30PM
4. Good food with reasonable price. We like all-you-can-eat steak for about JPT2,500
5. Nice onsen. (though not as nice as the one at Hilton but it is more than enough) It is also less crowded so I had an onsen to myself :)
6. Nice convenient store and many local products. (a lot better than Hilton's)
Cons
1. The location is 10-min by free shuttle to Annupuri but if you want to ski at Village or Hirafu, it is another 20-30 mins longer.
2. The bathroom smells urine and even if we requested a reclean, the smell did not go away. I guess it is the automatic toilet bowl that is hard to clean.
3. We stay in a western/Japanese room and feel that the room needs refurbishing. The carpet is spotted and the wallpaper is about to peel.

Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to a friend. But for us, we will consider Hirafu area next time we go to Niseko..just for a change.
