Cute charming little hotel in tree-lined area of quaint little hotels north of the Carmel commercial zone. Our room was not huge but it had everything we needed, plus cute little touches. We could hear people talking down in the courtyard and so forth, but by 10 PM or so it was quiet, and we slept well all 3 nights.
We woke up very early in the morning because of dog's barking. It was very loud and lasted relentlessly for good half an hour. I left a message on the receptions's phone and when she called me back she just said that people are allowed to bring dogs and the owners said that dog was barking on TV. So, i guess it is ok that other people couldn't rest. Really bad experience.
Really enjoyed my stay at the Carmel Fireplace Inn! Its near lots of great restaurants/shops, and the beach is a 5 min drive down Ocean Ave. ( Beach is STUNNING btw) Lots of free parking at the beach, but get there early. I booked the "Scenic Room" (#38, upstairs) It overlooked the courtyard, & of course had a cute fireplace that was such a mood in the evenings 😊 (hot water in the showrr was GREAT) Book an upstairs room so you don't have to worry about hearing folks walk above you, as most hotels have thin walls. Parking is limited, so get there early or you'll have to park on the street. Staff was very nice & helpful in understanding the town, & the Inn was quiet in the evenings. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice solo ( or couples) getaway. I'll be back to visit soon!…
We had a superior room within the garden courtyard - A good choice I feel. Bathroom very small and shower minuscule and almost situated in a hole in the wall. Since there is such an issue with water shortage one would want hotels to address this with better systems than are in place here. It took far too much time for hot water to reach our room wasting a ridiculous amount of water. We enjoyed Carmel and walked to the beach and back amidst the boutique shops. The fireplace in the room was rather special too. All in all - we were happy with our choice. The establishment is quaint but should work on updating.
We walked out of our original reservation at a different hotel that was terrible....all to save $60 from the Fireplace Inn where we've stayed before and knew was great. Wasted some money but no choice. The Fireplace Inn is in a great location, very clean, good parking, great service and the room was large, nicely appointed, amenities included and just a great value. I can't say enoug about the location and the service.
Dirty old carpet, broken furniture, white curtains black with dust, open dusty electrical spaces, tiny bar sink in bathroom, terrible small fiberglass shower, no pressure of water. Just plain gross!!!
We've stayed at this property before so we are familiar with it. This stay was very disappointing. First, there was no hot water for a shower. I called the front desk for help, but there is no one there until 10 AM. When I asked this afternoon if it could be checked I was told there wasn't hot water when the ice machine was on, which happened randomly. Not much help, but good to know. I hope the ice machine isn't on tomorrow morning. Second, someone in an adjacent room had their TV on too loud last night at 2 AM and again at 6 AM. Again, I called the front desk, but no one there until 10 AM. Finally, there are only 7 parking spaces for far more numerous rooms, so unless you are lucky enough to score one, you park on the street where you are at the mercy of ravenous meter maids. A very disappointing stay. We come to Carmel frequently, but this will be our last visit to the Fireplace Inn…
Pros- good location, parking is fairly easy to find, charming Cons- terrible internet, very small and outdated rooms Overall did not feel our stay/the room warranted the price we paid. They usually serve breakfast but aren’t now during covid. I was in town for a wedding so wasn’t in the room much, but it was not a comforatble space for two people to hangout if we had more leisure time to relax there
This was a spur of the moment trip to get some normalcy during covid and we brought the dog along. We did not have a reservation so this was a fantastic find. That was two weeks ago and we are heading back next week. Very clean, rustic, charming but simple. Great fireplace and really all we needed. The staff couldn't be nicer and the location is about perfect. The price, even with the $35 pet fee was simply great. I would recommend this Inn for pets or without. With pets though, nearly unbeatable.
It was our New Years Eve trip to Carmel. We stayed in Carmel Fireplace Inn, 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath cottage. Cottage has electric fireplace(other rooms and cottages are equipped with gas fireplace) with porch on side and back. Back porch has nice Ocean view. Booking is little cheaper on hotels website then on Booking.com. Everything was perfect and we are already planning our summer vacation. Coming back this summer!!!!
