The Lodge may look very ordinary from outside in first glance, but the rooms have very soothing decor from inside. The rooms have all the facilities and nice toiletries. The mattresses were very comfortable. There is no air conditioning in the Lodge. The rooms have only heater. But you would probably won't need the cooling for night as the temperature...

Easy to find, just a bit further from the beach than walking distance but very helpful staff saved us from the uphill trek with that info. Near lots of nice restaurants and some truly indulgent shopping! Wouldn't bother with free breakfast as some lovely brunchy spots nearby.

This lodge is reasonably priced and situated near the centre of Carmel and is within walking distance of all the shops and the beach. However be aware the beach is down a quite steep hill. The lodge is clean and the rooms large with a king size double bed. More importantly comfortable. The bathroom has a shower. There's a tv...

Carmel Lodge advertises it is a dog friendly hotel so we brought our dogs. They made us feel terrible, even to the point of running outside of their office to 'put us in our place ' while we loaded our crated dogs into our vehicle. We cannot recommend this place at all. We were on vacation and did not want...

Management response:

In response to Lorrinda R.'s review of our property, I would like to respond to some of her concerns. Carmel Lodge is an extremely pet friendly property. For the safety of our visiting pets, we do not allow animals to be left unattended in guest rooms or in vehicles on our property. This is in case of a fire or...

The reception staff were incredibly welcoming and offered advice on the local area. Free parking and the room itself was very spacious. However, the blinds offered very little protection from the light and meant that it was difficult to sleep after sunrise. Furthermore, the windows and walls were very thin which meant that we were woken by arriving guests and...

We enjoyed our stay at the Carmel Lodge. The rooms have been updated. The bathroom is pretty dated. We loved the balcony even though it just looked out on the street and the hotel across the street. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast consists of 2 tiny Danish, 4 strawberries, a small cup of coffee and...

I arrived in Carmel late in the afternoon. Didn't have anywhere booked. Starting searching for hotels on TripAdvisor, Carmel Lodge looked nice so gave them a call. Beth answered the phone, told me they had a room so booked over the phone. When I arrived Beth was on the front desk. Her ability to make you feel like you were...

Pet Friendly Property. Quiet dated with regards to several items, however, the Beds and Linen were Ah'Mazing!!! Centrally located. Priced fair. Pet instructions could be more clear prior to check in as we were surprised that pets needed to remain with us 24/7.

We have stayed here several times. We like the separate building, quieter and more open to the free parking lot. Continental breakfast is o.k. Staff very helpful. Nice size room, non smoking. Will definitely stay there again.

We had a Living Social coupon for two nights at the Carmel Lodge. We had no complaints -- the room was very comfortable and quiet, the people at the front desk helpful, and it was a good bargain price for Carmel. It's not fancy, that's true, but we enjoyed our time there and recommend it.
