This is a lovely hotel with kind staff. They have a nice sitting area where they serve wine and cheese from 5-6 pm. For some reason, they have a rule that the front door MUST remain open until 7 pm despite VERY chilly weather in October (they did close it when asked, but only for a few minutes). It was difficult to enjoy the sitting area since it couldn't warm up inside, even with a fire and a space heater. Many guests inside wore their coats indoors to try to stay warm. My recommendation is to do away with strict rules that make guests uncomfortably chilly. It's hard to enjoy the ambience the hotel is trying to create in the cold. Hoping they will be willing to close the front door for everyone's comfort after seeing this comment! Room was nice, but bright from lighting in courtyard even when shutters closed. Appreciate that breakfast is included and the nice toiletries the hotel included in the room.…
The hotel room and common areas were fresh and newer than any other hotel we have stayed at in Carmel. The staff was extremely engaging and welcoming. The continental breakfasts delivered to the room were a bonus! I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Carmel.
Location, staff and cleanliness deserve 5 stars. Room was smallish but fine for us, bathroom was updated, nice and did have hooks for towels. But a few issues lead to our 3 star review. I would give 3.5 stars if that was an option, but I can't see how to do that. With this being said, I've travelled the world and may be a little picky here, but these are the downsides that we experienced, and i wanted to share in case these things are important to you: 1. no parking and it's virtually impossible to find parking close by. I get it, but still a hardship. 2. the breakfast! for the room price, i would expect much higher quality/option. we were delivered 2 room-temperature hard boiled eggs (in shell), 2 super sweet vanilla yogurts with super sweet honey drizzle and sweet granola sprinkles, and 2 little (sweet again) pastries that looked pretty good. Same both days. Also coffee (options are only plain or decaf, with no option on creamer-you got the little creamers that you get in a drive-through, and i think they offered oj. We were hoping for something a little healthier, or other options and the eggs were just a little odd-no toast, cheese, meat, veggies to go with it. Even if they threw in a protein bar and/or some fruit, it would've been better effort. Not very appetizing and again, for the pricetag, would expect better. 3. No air conditioning and it was VERY hot...so maybe they could have fans for such hot days. Windows opened but no screens, and other guests could look right in your room if walking by (windows are from waist to head height (3-6'), and guest walk by on balcony frequently to enter their rooms. 4. No fridge in room, but they did bring one when we asked. 5. Also no complimentary water bottles. I think the 6 oz water bottles in the room were an additional $5/each...maybe $4...I don't recall. We were going hiking and needed water-nothing at front desk, either; though they did have a water cooler in the lobby if you brought your own flask, which we had. Again-for a $500-$600 price tag, give us a free water please, or a plastic flask to fill from the lobby water cooler.…
Booked our stay very last minute as our previous accommodations were awful. Our room was clean and nice; just wish the windows had screens to let in fresh air. Great communication (via text) from the hotel reminding us to put out our breakfast request (as it was delivered to the room each morning). Wish our room had a dresser to put our clothes and at least some shelves in the bathroom for toiletries, but overall a nice place. Common area in a courtyard had plenty of places to sit, hanging chairs and a firepit/place area. Not thrilled about getting charged after check-out for water from the room we didn't drink, but for the most part this is a nice place to stay. Easy to walk down to shops/restaurants in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Just be prepared for off-streeet parking. No parking lot at the hotel.…
Dude, it’s clean clean clean!! The operation is very smooth with hosts that are extremely accommodating! They text several messages during your stay and are in touch with your opinions. Great staff! Your stay will be relaxing and trouble free!
Good location, good staff, love the happy hour drink and cheese.some free bicycle in the front gate,I love here,so relax.next time I will come back.真的非常不错👍，设施也不错，就是没有空调，住习惯了洛杉矶，还是得有个空调，虽然不热，但是想透气，建议按个纱窗。
This was my second stay at the Hideaway and yet again I found it to be just as lovely as my first visit. The rooms are spacious, very clean, comfortable yet modern. All situated around a beautiful courtyard, complete with fireplaces. They deliver breakfast and coffee in the mornings right to your door and host you for wine and cheese in the afternoons. The location is absolutely ideal, situated at the top of Ocean Ave, but away from the noise of the Main Street, you can walk anywhere. Definitely will stay again.
My mom stayed at the property while her power was out in Pebble and had a great time walking in downtown Carmel. She felt very welcome in the lobby where they had wine and cheese nightly. The people were friendly and made sure she was cared for the entire time. Clean and modern rooms with all the extra amenities you need for a short or long stay. We will be staying here again for sure as it was a pleasant experience and a chance to have a mini staycation.
This property is the perfect beach property in Carmel. It sits nuzzled in the golden rectangle close to all shops restaurants and fun things to do. The staff is really friendly and the wine hour and amenities are great. Kim at the front desk is fantastic
The Hideaway is a glorified motel 'updated' with paint and new furniture. The 'suite' (which meant there was a sleeper sofa) was very noisy, next to stairs with every footfall heard. Limited street only parking, no elevator, no coffee maker, small bathrooms, no view, unfriendly staff. The 'amenities' (for which there is an extra charge) include a breakfast basket with lukewarm coffee and a stale croissant. The afternoon wine with cheese was a nice touch. Very overpriced for what it is. "Luxury" it is not.
