I grabbed a last minute deal for an one night stay in Carmel and was so pleased to have found at La Playa Carmel. You would be spoiled with resort-quality amenities: huge breakfast, afternoon sangria, evening cookies & milk, free Wi-Fi and bath salts. Very charming and modern facilities, with great reception staff. I enjoyed being able to walk to...

Very tidy, well done renovation w/ garden and ocean views. My garden suite was located directly over the boiler room and while I loved the location it was impossible to keep the room below 75 without a fan and the window open which sacrificed some privacy. The staff was accommodating and offered a room change but it wasn't terrible so...

La Playa was spectacular. It's located amongst the prime Carmel area which means that the beach and restaurants, galleries and shops are right around the corner. Its' charm is noteworthy. The lobby has a small fireplace and further on, it leads into a restaurant area with indoor and outdoor seating. This is also where the awesome breakfast is served. At...

My husband and I celebrated our 45th anniversary at La Playa Carmel. We had spent our honeymoon there 45 years ago. We were given the gift of returning 45 years later compliments or our son and daughter. The hotel is cozy. So close to the ocean-you can smell the sea. It was amazing!!! We were on the second floor over...

This hotel is almost in the heart of downtown Carmel and yet you feel so far away from everything. You are only a couple of blocks from the beach and you can hear the waves crashing in. There is an history to the hotel so ask about that. I always ask for a room on the top floor in the...

I did a TON of research for our "Pacific Coast Highway" honeymoon and we stayed here during the trip. The service, rooms, attention to detail and excitement and encouragement of us being newlyweds made us feel so special! From the minute we arrived, they treat you like gold. The concierge, the door guys, the shuttle drivers, the staff, the housekeeping,...

We had a very mixed experience with La Playa Carmel, and I want to write a fair review with the understanding that some of the issues might have been because we were visiting during Christmas. Perhaps some of the staff were on leave. Pros: the hotel is lovely and the architecture is great. The staff is absolutely friendly and there...

Found this gem. Enjoyed refreshments and appetizers from the bar at the covered patio by the fireplace. The rain was not an issue and the view of the garden and pool is fabulous. We all decided this would be worth a stay. Perfectly located outside the busy streets but near enough. This is a hundred year old hotel, so there's...

It's a lovely old building and the staff tries so hard. But I have to give an honest review so here goes. The Good: The staff is really friendly and helpful, the breakfast is a full continental breakfast with everything you could possibly want from customized omelets and waffles to cereals, toasts, pastries, fruits, cheeses, and cold cuts. The courtyard...
