Hotel is clean and very nice, staff is exceptional about your needs and accommodations. Breakfast was great and had a good variety. Only thing we noticed, was the shower tub needs new anti slip strips.

I've really enjoyed staying in El Primero, several times over the years. The rooms are small but comfortable. I've noticed that there are two rooms you want to avoid. There is a room facing the street, which is large and gorgeous. Unfortunately the front room is very noisy because of street traffic. Another room that isn't very good is the... More

This hotel is sooooooo nice. Fully renovated, old style, beautiful tiles and archways, wood and old world glory. The owners-inn keepers are always on site. They purchased this pla de twelve years ago, as a wreck, and managed the renovation themselves. Cool, sweet a step back in time. And breakfast was delicious.

We have never stayed in a B&B prior to our visit here, and we stayed for five days. This was a fabulous visit! I was first impressed by the Art Deco architecture and the neon accents. The parking is onsite, and the entrance to the hotel is secure. Entrance is by buzzer, and the staff personally opens the door for... More

The very definition of a boutique hotel. Not fancy but clean, comfortable, and intimate. Has character and the staff are proactive in taking care of you. Lots of local eateries and night spots in easy walking distance. Beats the franchise experience hands down; has that small business feel so often missing these days.

If you want a genuine family like atmosphere with people who care enough to actually talk to you with interest, then you would love the family-run El Primero B&B. When my husband and I arrived, we were greeted by the owner who made us feel welcome and in fact, said that we might feel like part of the family. The... More

Wowed! We came back for a second night on the return leg of our trip, about a week after our first night. This charming family-owned hotel is in the business of comfort and service; it’s obvious their objective is to please their guests. The room's cleanliness: 5 stars! Hospitality: 5-star pleasant! The beds were firm, soft, and the best on... More

- there were dirty spots in the toilet. after an immediate complaint, the owner removed the dirt with a brush and did not clean his hands afterwards, which seemed rather unhygienic - dirty, old bedsheets, after my complaint the owner himself said the stains come from not bleaching the sheets because this would be too expensive. in addition, he only... We traveled to see our daughter and grandchildren that live in San Diego. I picked this B & B because I grew up in Chula Vista in the late 50's. This is an excellent little gem. Small rooms, but extremely quiet and the best management of any location I have stayed in the past 30 years. Breakfast was also very... More

The service at El Primero is second to none. Innkeepers Pie and Sol, with daughters Karen and Katie are tireless in making sure their guests are always the main concern.
