We have been coming to the Del yearly since 2013, and this was our 2nd time staying at the Beach Village. After Hilton took over the the hotel several years ago, we noticed a huge decline in service and in the condition of the hotel. I'd also like to note that when we booked our very first stay at the Del many years ago, it was rated #1 on Trip Advisor, so obviously a lot has changed since then, sadly. This was the main reason we decided to give the Beach Village a try on our previous visit, and we fell in love. I was worried going into this trip, as I have been keeping up with reading the reviews of both the Beach Village and the main hotel, and they have been worrisome. However, our experience from check in to check out was almost flawless. Our room was ready when we arrived at the hotel around 2:30pm, and parking was easy. Front desk staff at the Beach Village were friendly and helpful. We decided we wanted to switch rooms (personal preference based on the view we had previously, nothing was wrong with the room given to us). Given that the hotel was booked, this was not easy for the staff to figure out, and it required a room switch after our second night, but we didn't mind and the staff made it very easy to do. Our room was clean and in good condition. Every time we requested towels, extra sheets, etc...from housekeeping throughout our stay they came promptly. We were in one of the ocean front cottages, and the views can't be beat. We did not use any of the hot tubs or smaller pools, but the oval pool was beautiful and clean, and the staff very attentive. We had lunch there and the food was delicious and the service was quick. Having the Windsor Cottage available to us is one of our favorite amenities of staying at the Beach Village. All of the ladies who serve breakfast there are so friendly, and it was a great way to start each day. Another perk that we loved is the free beach chairs/umbrellas. We had always loved dining at ENO in the evening with the fire pit tables and sunset views, and were disappointed when we found out that experience had been changed. However, even though we will always miss it, the use of the space now is much better. The larger market area was greatly needed, and even though the lines for coffee in the morning were still long at times.....it is a great improvement from what the hotel offered previously for morning coffee and pastries. We got takeout pizza and the service was quick, and we also dined there for lunch one day and were seated immediately and service was exceptional. We spent one day at the main pool of the Hotel Del Coronado and rented a cabana. We love the remodel of the pool area and highly recommend the cabana rentals. Service was great, food was good....although I wish the menu at the main pool had more to offer. We liked the menu at the Beach Village oval pool much better. Even with the Fourth of July weekend crowds, we never felt like the hotel was understaffed, and with the exception of lines to get coffee in the morning (we learned to go early!) we never felt like we had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for anything. We were told by several staff members that fireworks would not be visible from the beach. However, I had directly asked the Coronado Fourth of July organizer and was told we would be able to see them....so we took our chances, and boy are we glad we did! We had an amazing unobstructed view of the fireworks from the beach in front of the hotel, with the Del as a backdrop and it was pure magic! Cons: -The hotel ran out of beach towels on July 4th by 10:30am and we are still baffled at how this could happen. The beach staff told us to get towels from the pool. The pool staff told us that the beach staff kept stealing their towels, and they refused to give us any. This was our only negative experience with staff the entire trip. The lady at the pool was vey rude and refused to offer a solution. The staff at the beach were friendly about it, but still could offer no solution. I asked to speak to a manager, and was told he was busy. We finally went to the front desk at the Beach Village, and they were shocked that the hotel was out of towels, and promised us they would find us towels right away and deliver them to our room, which they did. We lost an hour of our time on the beach because of this. -All of the food at the hotel is extremely overpriced. We ate all of our dinners off property, however it is difficult to do that for lunch because you are usually at the beach or pool, and the convenience of eating on property wins out over the price, and I think they know this and that is how they are able to get away with it. -This hotel is very loud and busy until the late hours of the night, and starting very early in the morning. We personally are okay with it as we like the "busy" atmosphere, but if you are a light sleeper who goes to bed early or who likes to sleep in, a beach/oceanfront room is not for you. We could hear voices on the sidewalk in front of our room until past midnight, as well the sound of vehicles from staff members setting up/putting away things on the beach from special events, beach movies, etc... and the noises start again at dawn, as well as from the machines that clean the beach each morning. -Obviously all of the construction is a huge con and it was a bummer having the main hotel lobby and the majority of the shops closed, but we knew about this going into it so we knew what to expect. If you think this will bother you, hold off on booking a trip until it is completed. Overall, we had another amazing vacation at the Del and can't wait to return next year!

Hotel's Favourite
We recently stayed here for four nights in a beach view 2 bedroom villa as a party of four adults and a child (2 year old). It was a long time coming to reconnect with family after a long year of not seeing one another. Check in was very quick and efficient, and the room itself was amazing! We did have a little issue with a lack of hot water that we noticed when two people were either showering or taking a bath at the same time, but once we learned to stagger our showers, there was no issue. The kitchen appliances were top notch-we cooked dinner in the room a few nights and we were so pleased with the quality. We did not have steak knives in the room, but one call to the front desk and they were delivered within 15 minutes! We thoroughly enjoyed both the hot and cold pools-we did not use the fitness center, but it looked wonderful (including Peloton bikes!!) We found the food at the resort very good-the staff were all incredibly friendly. We absolutely cannot wait to return. Thank you!

The experience sucked. No one knows what is going on; deer in the headlights. Had to ask why we received no housekeeping. Had to beg for toilets and toilet paper. This is NOT the place I remember. It’s a mess!

Stayed in an Ocean View Suite for 3 nights. Room was spacious and we enjoyed the patio and fireplaces. Ocean/beach front was not available during our stay, though I would reserve that category, if available. Each of the staff members from check-in to breakfast to taco bar to bellman to housekeeping were top notch. Fitness center is amazing. While we weren’t bothered by any actual construction, many areas of the original hotel were closed, and breakfast was extremely limited (5 options). The resort is busy but the beach is wide and expansive, and the sunsets are spectacular.

For such a high priced hotel the services that were promised were not up to par. We did not have hot water for an entire day. There is no room service available at this hotel. No valet even though they charge you a premium price for parking. Not what you would expect for such a high price tag.
