I first drove past the Coronado Island Inn and thought it looked really cute, so I booked it the next time I was in town. Its clean, updated and the inside is fun/beachy and simple. To me it was very calming and just want I needed. The interior design was more fun than a boring old holiday inn or best western. This isn’t a super fancy luxury resort or anything, but if you need a clean, friendly place to stay and feel safe, this is the place for you! Also, walking distance to restaurants, cafes, a grocery store and a gorgeous view of the bay. They even have beach cruisers you can rent for free during the day! 😎
Hotel is dated, bathroom floor had a soft spot I thought I was going to fall thru. Linoleum was scarred and had holes in it. All metals were either rusted or corroded. Internet didn’t work in the room, at 4:30a.m traffic on two sides of our room started to zoom by to make matters worse the blinds didn’t go to the bottom so the headlights made us feel like we were in a police lineup! Felt like we were in the middle of a traffic circle. Bed spread was stained and the blanket was likely 20 years old. Breakfast was very basic, nothing hot. Never so happy to get out of a place before. Can’t believe Priceline’s 73% rating. Avoid stay in San Diego and take the $5.00 water taxi, or spring for a better hotel
Very basic accommodations with good service and excellent location on Orange Ave. room had shower, mini fridge, microwave, wall A/C unit. Good Continental breakfast by the pool. A little rough around the edges, but safe and quite reasonable price.
We LOVE Coronado & thought we would visit on a budget....it's 6:30 AM & we've been up since 4 AM due to the traffic!!!!!! The amenities are actually at their other location across the street.... the traffic is so busy you feel like you're on the interstate. You have to walk across the street for breakfast which is just cereal, fruit & pastries-nothing warm. The only thing good is the staff has been nice but the rooms are super tiny.
My husband and I stayed at the Inn for one night during a recent trip to visit friends in SD. Although the staff was very friendly and accommodating, the accommodations themselves were VERY underwhelming. We stayed in a ground floor room with a king size bed and the traffic noise was very prominent. The bed had a mattress on it that might as well have been from a 30 year old pull out couch. Perhaps it is because I'm pregnant and already have some back problems, but I was not able to sleep at all on this mattress and have been in pain ever since. The carpet was stained in several places and the drawers in the built in dresser along the wall were sticking out because they did not fit and could not be pushed in all the way. There was a remote that had a DirectTV logo on it but the TV only got a few local channels. The furniture was very worn and the bathroom was about 5 square feet, including a stall shower and smelled like sulfur. I guess I should not have expected much given the price, but suffice it to say, we will not be staying here again and will likely shell out the extra cash for a more plush accommodations next time we visit the island.…
