This was an excellent choice. Diane Barham, the Manager, helped me with the booking arrangements far in advance of our stay. There were 7 of us on a Northern California tour on motorcycles but several members decided to travel with us after we had made our original booking. Diane said, "No problem." When we arrived in the quaint town of...

Just loved staying here. They have little touches that made a big difference. The kitchen units are definitely worth it. We went in the off season and had the whole town to ourselves. There isn't much open but for a quiet couple trip it was perfect.

One of the most enchanting places ever, the hotel owner is very nice and makes the most beautiful European breakfast The motel is situated on a river overlooking the old gold rush town Wish we could have stayed longer

We went to this 'Resort' because other friends were staying there. It was an 'interesting' stay if you have the right mind for it. We liked it because it was near where we were hunting for gold on private claims. This in is also next to the historic Sierra County Courthouse which has a great display of nuggets. The bed...

I stayed in Room 3, the accessible bedroom that overlooks the river. The room was absolutely lovely and very clean. I appreciated the fridge and microwave, as well as the comfortable furnishings. GREAT bed! And there is nothing like the sound of the river to soothe the soul. Also as a woman traveling solo, the room felt secure to me....

We stayed with another couple in the largest cabin in Aug. 2014. The floor in the bathroom was rotted and I had to ask for a board to put over it so we did not fall through the floor getting in and out of the tub/shower. Plenty of fresh towels and the lady and her daughter were very nice....but...on their...

My wife and I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the City for Valentine’s Day and Downieville definitely fit the bill. There are only three places to stay in town during the off-season and two of them were right next to Highway 49, so we chose the Downieville River Inn as it was off the main...

We had a room with kichenette and a daybed. I didn't sleep on the daybed, but it was pretty small. We didn't cook, but it was good to have utensils, plates and coffee makers so that we could make breakfast and pack our lunches. We only saw a lady at the reception when we checked in, never saw them again....

This inn received high ratings so I booked 2 rooms for a family reunion to take place at the Gold Days festival in Alleghany. We were so pleased with our rooms! Diane, the owner, was very helpful during the booking process through check-out. She gave us personal service that was refreshing. Our rooms each had a bathroom, complete with hair...

My whole family (numbering almost thirty and ranging in age from 83 to 15 months) just spent the week at the River Inn and we had a wonderful time! The innkeepers couldn't have been lovelier or more accommodating and helpful, and Downieville, though a quiet little town, offered something to each of us, from fishing to hiking to mountain biking....

“We stayed in the big 3 bedroom suite, but it is really more suitable for a large group. It is like a large mountain cabin with a huge wood burning stove. We usually stay in 14, a nice family style 2 bedroom suite with living room and full kitchen. One bedroom has two queens. We can have our own bedroom and four kids can share the two queens. If they have friends, the floors are big enough for their friends to sleep on the floor. There is no charge for extra kids!”
