We spent two nights in Eureka recently and we can definitely say the the highlight of our trip to Eureka was staying at the Carter House. From the time we arrived and received a friendly welcome, everything was close to perfect. Our room was very nice, the beds were super comfortable and the facility was spotless. We got the snack...

Unfortunately we got into Eureka very late & by the time we arrived to Carter House Inn it was almost 10pm. However, the receptionist was wonderful & still offered us a complimentary glass of wine each to bring to our room. The room was a much welcome sight after enduring a long day of traveling up the coast. The bed...

Dear Guest, Thanks for choosing Carter House and for staying with us. We are sorry that you were a late arrival and missed the wine and hors d'oeuvres and the cookies and tea. We also apologize for any noise from the parking lot--we have addressed that problem and it should be fine in the future. It was good to hear...

(5th stop on a road trip from Portland to San Francisco) We stayed in the hotel building of the Carter House properties. They have "collected" several old Victorian structures and have converted them into lodging. The hotel is located across the street from the Victorian houses. It is definitely an old, historic building that has been restored. This was a...

Pulling up to this property it is truly impressive, but unfortunately there are some major disadvantages to staying in this hotel. The floor in the restaurant is natural slate which has natural peaks and valleys. The floor is lovely but the chairs do not glide across it so if you're in the room above the dining room (as we were)...

The staff service is excellent. The B&B rooms are excellent (unless AC needed). Make sure to make dinner reservations ahead for the great Restaurant 301 with a superb wine list. The restaurant also hosts the very good breakfast. When in the Redwood country, this is a great place to stay and dine.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your trip advisor review and for staying with us. We are pleased that you enjoyed the room and we appreciate your comments. My wife and I spent 2 evenings at the Carter House and the accomodations could not have been better - from the staff welcome, to the room, to the food. We were upgraded to a suite with a gas burning fireplace, large jacuzzi tub, and separate sitting room. The room was large and extremely nice. If you stay in Eureka,...

Wonderfully furnished and varied rooms and suite like cottages in the lovely Old Town section of Eureka. Historic victorian buildings are part of the Inn and the neighborhood. The Restaurant 301 is well worth the visit too.

My husband and I just spent two nights at the Carter House Inn and it was absolutely wonderful in every way - from the room, to the staff to the food. Something about the town of Eureka, CA is off. My wife and I weren't sure if we were safe walking around the old town area, which is not far from the hotel.
