Hotel lobby is going through major renovations so I was able to get a room on the weekend for $103+ tx. Which was good price for the area. Once the renovations are finished it seems this will be a cool place to stay.

Same here. I also rented a car and came from Long Beach. If you haven't booked your trip, I would recommend coming in from Long Beach. LAX is a zoo with all the construction. And if you are flying United, it gets worse. United is at the end of the pick up route for the rental car vans and the shuttle vans are often full by the time they reach United. Fullerton is a good distance away from LAX and Uber may be costly depending on time. They do have an estimator you can use.
