Soneva Fushi really is a special place - and hard to fault. We stayed the majority of the time in a Crusoe villa with pool and the last two nights in an over water villa. Both are fabulous. Easier access to the beach from the first and easier access to the sea from the second (a slide!). Cycling everywhere, and you can walk around the island - barefoot it really is - no need for shoes unless you are going to the gym. The food is excellent - and plenty of choice of restaurants on the island - so much so that we did not manage to eat in them all. We ate well the whole time- from chef Akira with exquisite sushi, enjoying the vista from Out of the Blue, so much to choose from buffets in Down to Earth, the over garden dining in Fresh in the Garden. delicious healthy breakfasts. Amazing snorkelling, good yoga, stargazing in the Observatory….. Incredibly friendly and knowledgable staff and wish we were still there!

I’m lucky enough to have visited the Maldives on numerous occasions. Having stayed at a few of the 5 star resorts it’s fair to say wherever you decide to go you won’t be disappointed. They are all heavenly. However at Soneva Fushi there is something magical that I didn’t find elsewhere. A delightful combination of staff, food and the efforts they go to to be eco friendly make it quite simply the best resort I have ever visited. Every aspect of this resort excels. Greeted by my Barefoot Butler my every need was taken care of with warmth and professionalism. So much so that I’m starting to think they train them to mind read! Literally they preempt your every need. The quality and choice of food is quite exceptional. A good choice of restaurants. Out of the blue was my favourite. Asian food. So good! I could go on and on as everything about this place is utter perfection ( water sports/ villas etc ) Deserve a second mention. The team at Soneva Fushi. Such warm genuine smiles and nothing seems too much in ensuring clients leave having had the best time possible. Treat yourself, book and enjoy. You won’t be disappointed.

We just returned from our 8th visit to this unique place. Arrival procedure with the testing went smooth and we received the result after around 2 hours . As always, there are some innovations and changes going on: The sunset bar is gonna be transformed into another overwater outlet (well, a bit of a pity as it was a charming place). Cinema Paradiso gets its own venue and in addition to the open air area a closed cinema room. Also the new wellness and spa building is gonna open soon with a wide choice of holistic treatments and therapies. The first and only one zipline course in the Maldives has just been launched. Hubby tried it out, ziplining through the Soneva jungle is definitely a funny thing! At the end of the four pillars jungle tour comes the next amazing place: The brandnew Flying Sauces Zipline Restaurant. A huge table serving up to 12 guests in a spectacular setting high above the ground. Surely a very special experience starting with the zipline route and finishing with a gourmet dinner amidst the lush and dense vegetation. It’s also open for breakfast and high tea. We will try out next year! This time we stayed in one of the 10 new Crusoes on the sunrise side. They are more sophisticated in design and featuring a freshwater pool. We loved our villa and the beautiful stretch of beach in front with easy access to the house reef. The only minus for me: There is just one outdoor shower which is actually the one under the roof. The proper open air garden shower which was totally mine is missing. Let’s hope this will change back in the future. On our last night we had the pleasure to sleep in one of the 8 spectacular water villas. They are really impressive with their big, big outdoor area including lots of lounging spots, a huge pool and of course the legendary slide. Every single villa has its own one, also all are equipped with the retractable roof. The bathroom is very lovely in design and comes with fab view over the ocean. Sliding depends on the tides and be prepared, the slide is pretty speedy, more than the public one at Out of the Blue. I have to say this was really an exquisite experience! Soneva’s exceptional cuisine is always a delight and hard to beat. As Mirihee was closed on the first two days, we went to Out of the Blue for lunch. We had some excellent dishes from the really talented Thai lady and were happy that we came along. Sushi & sashimi are on a top notch level and always showcased in a refined way. Dinner at Fresh in the Garden with its outstanding setting is also always on the list. A pity that So Bespoke has been closed, another stunning place. October seems not to be the best month as in 2019 it was also not open. Our favourite venue is unquestionable Down to Earth. We love the authentic cuisine from chef Ravi, it’s always perfectly seasoned and the menu selection is definitely ours. And not to forget pastry chef Shanta – one of the most important persons on the island 😊. He is the creator of over-delicious truffles, cakes, desserts and all other seductions around. On my birthday, a lovely set-up on the beach with romantic lantern and a marvellous dinner has been arranged. It was truly a memorable evening with lots of fun! Again all team members were fantastic. So many familiar faces in the meantime and always enjoyable to see them. In terms of island life, we usually prefer the chill mode. So mostly cyling through the lush jungle, snorkelling trips and lots of beach walks are our main actitivites. We love the laid-back luxury feel of Soneva which is perfect to relax and unwind. On one of the days we went for a castaway picnic and spent a Robinson-Crusoe-style afternoon on a desert island with some nice food and drinks. For the more active ones, apart from a bunch of things on offer there is something interesting new in the watersports centre available. It’s kind of a surf board with a motor, seems to be pretty exciting. Staying at Soneva is always like coming home and once again we had a wonderful time. We will be back in October 2022.
