My sister-in-law and I arrived in Kernville on a Friday afternoon for a weekend of hiking. The hotel that we had arranged to stay at in town was horrible. Our room was filthy and the whole place was very rundown. Fortunately for us we were able to find a room at Whispering Pines Lodge for a very reasonable rate considering... More

we stayed for two nights and for sure the lovely Kern River outside the balcony is a lullaby but I think it is over priced and the extras could use some upgrading. A newer mattress would have been welcome . The decor is confusing, a mixture of Victorian meets western lodge The coffee maker in the room is not the... More

Go and enjoy. Great place to have a reunion. We go every year. It is very relaxing and peaceful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are very accommodating for our large group of 26. We enjoyed the visit to the lake and the local ghost town. They also have a great local swap meet with beautiful antiques. The... More

Pulling into the bed and breakfast from the road, I knew this was going to be a peaceful weekend. We lucked out and got a river view room - nothing but nature to contend with! The breakfast was wonderful with plenty to eat and the location was quiet and not far away from the small town to go sightseeing and... More

Our cabin was very comfortable, and the king sized bed was one of those tempur-pedics. There was a nice swimming pool, and a private fishing section along the Kern River. Cabin had a nice balcony wirh a great view, and a small gas grill. The breakfasts were outasight!!

Tripadvisor has been very kind and very rough on this place. We went over Thanksgiving, the room we stayed in (riverfront) was comfortable, meticulously cleaned, well-furnished, well-maintained. It's clear that the new-ish owners are making a big investment in getting this place awesome. The staff was also very helpful and very proactive -- makes for a really nice and authentic... More

The whispering pines lodge is based very close to the river and you can quickly walk down to the river and soak up some of the relaxing atmosphere found there. I loved the large veranda area outside the room where I could sit at a table or one a 'rocking' bench and read by book in the quiet or just... More
