We were hoping to stay at La Valencia, but it was booked. Now, I'm glad as I really liked the Grande Colonial. Beautiful room, very comfortable beds, and top notch service. The location is perfect for exploring La Jolla, walking along the coast, and trying out some fabulous restaurants. The pool was an added bonus for a quick dip after...

Dear GeorgiaTraveler61: We love our neighbors, even our hotel neighbors. But we love them even more when their guests decide to stay with us and ultimately fall in love! Thank you so much for giving the Grande Colonial a shot when you couldn't stay elsewhere. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay so much, particularly your accommodations, the service...

The room was comfortable, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is very quaint. Great location close to the beach and seals. Our dinner at nine-ten ( chef's mercy tasting menu paired with wines) was one of the best we've ever had!

Dear April: Thank you so very much for the recognition of our comfortable beds. We just replaced all the pillows and mattresses in each of our 93 guest rooms and suites and have had so many wonderful comments about their comfort. So many that we are even considering making some available for purchase. Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm happy...

We had an enjoyable three night stay at the Grand Colonial. The hotel was older, but well maintained and classically comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive and the room & bed very comfortable. The ocean was a short walk from the hotel, which was also close to restaurants and shopping.

Thanks, Tom, for the 5-star review. I appreciate you taking the time to post feedback for others to read as they make their travel plans. We know that Arizona can be rather toasty during the summer months so please know that you will always have a room waiting here in La Jolla when you need to cool off! Hope that's...

We chose this location due to its close proximity to shopping, dining, and the beach. All of this was well worth the cost to maximize a short stay as we were only here for one night. The hotel has wonderful charm maintaining its 1920's colonial style while having the latest amenities. There were a few items outdated, but we didn't...

Nice staff and service, comfortable bed, great breakfast and just a short walk to the beach. Nice area for an early morning jogging tour. All in all, a nice place to stay when visiting San Diego area.

Close proximity to everything in La Jolla. The rooms are decent size, and are clean. We stayed in a junior suite in the back bungalow, which was nice, but on the bottom floor, and could hear the people above us walking around. Stay upstairs if you have a choice.

Dear Reed590. I am delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the location of the Grande Colonial. We are indeed just a block away from the Children's Pool and miles of other beaches renowned to the area...not to mention all the shopping, dining and entertainment steps away from our front door. Glad you enjoyed that. (I am sorry about the...

Dear Michael - I am so very sorry about the unpleasant smell you experienced while staying in our Colonial Suites wing, adjacent to the main building. Please know that I have brought this up to my team and we are inspecting immediately to ensure that the only smells our guests experience are those from the fresh, Pacific Ocean breezes. Thank...

La Jolla cover was a great area & the Grand Colonial gave us a perfect landing spot while we were visiting the area. The room was larger than we expected & we had a partial OV from room 325. Dear Cheryl....allow me to start by saying thank you very much for providing such candid feedback about your recent visit. Chose the hotel because of its charm (and updated facilities). Spent many lovely hours reading in loungers in the courtyard outside the garden units (where we stayed). The accommodations were perfect in every way.
